Do spiders that come from a Tuscan fit on a Cerb?

Yes, Cerb spiders are usually Tuscan fronts all round.

No spacers on mine - and never any rubbing.

Some people have experienced rubbing when using Tuscan rears on the rear of a Cerb. It seems the inside of the rear arches varies in dimension across different cars and certain combinations will cause rubbing.

Fitting Tuscan fronts on the rear will have the wheels sitting well short of the wheel arch.

Your car is a 97 - it came from the factory with 16 inch wheels and not spiders.

That's interesting, I never appreciated that before.... But mine are definitely bigger at the back... Spiders all round. Only notice when you get down and dirty cleaning them though...

Bigger wheels at the rear or bigger tyres?

I know, but the spiders that were on it when I bought it were marked front and rear with different offsets and I never had any rubbing on the arches.

I measured one of the rear spiders using a flat edge across the back rim and measured down to the back of the hub face and compared it to a front and it was around 12mm i think it was. ET 33 and ET 45 the difference is correct, so would show the 12mm. Although a 12mm spacer i wouldn't be happy with the amount of stud left.

And thinking about it further from what has been said on here the wheel would sit further inside the arch so would look odd would it not as the fronts sit further out of the arch than the rears would.

So i take it the tuscans rear track is wider than the cerbs

Wheels themselves... Don't really notice just viewing from the side but if you wash it, you notice...

I'll maybe take a closer look over the weekend...

No the rears sit further out (fill the arch better) than the fronts - about 12mm as you say. Some cars with rears experience rubbing on the outer wheelarch, depending on tyre size/make, ride height, damper settings etc, but normally only at extremes of compression, eg track days or dips at high speed. Leaves a telltale shiny sidewall and greasy black residue just inside the wheelarch. I think front/rear were fitted to cerbs by TVR, at least when spiders were first introduced to the cerb. Some people use front/front to avoid rubbing and possibly TVR did the same in later years.

Great discussion, from just a simple question. I have bought the spiders by now.
