Help Temp gauge problem.

I have had the dash out to paint and started the car up for the first time today after having it in bits, However see from the pictures my problem the needle is sticking on the plactic surround and i dont know what to do other than drill a 1mm hole in the bottom and use some wire to poke it back in place. i really dont want to remove it all again and will not remove it to send off as that is a big job as i have just found out.

I was hoping the needle would be enough to push it back in place I was so wrong!!! i gave it a bang as it was not going past 50 for a bit then it shot to 70 and will not move now!

Any one see a easy fix?

Looks like the capiliary (sp) has failed and leaked into the front of the dial.

Broke I'm afraid, back out and off to not so speedy cables for a refurb and a pant pulling. lol

It still move fine it is just that plastic insert has moved and causing the needle its self to stick. i will find a way as that does not look fun at all getting that out. maybie time for a digital upgrade???

Bummer bud take it apart again i would atleast its done then,how easy/hard is it to remove glass is it possible in place?always the way bud just keep ploding on

Tricky one... Ridds may be right. I thought it was water in the dial, but it looks like the dial backing has come loose and that is preventing the needle from moving. But has the backing come unstuck because water has leaked into it.
It is possible to prise off the alloy surround, but you have to be very careful, do it slowly and evenly all the way round. You then might be able to push the dial backing back in place, and see if that was the problem, and then check to see if the guage works as it should.
If you fck it up, then off to Speedy Cables for repair I'mm afraid.

Well i looked back at photo's before i started the job and it was my fault in the first place i must have gave it a knock or bump, good news just back in from the garage and i have a gauge that moves again, not perfect but does the job it is ment to.

All i did was hold it upside down and tap the side carefully this time and it seemed to move so i put it to the side of the gauge the needles should never see!!!!!

I can live with it.

I'be just looked at the pic on my phone and it's clear that It's the outer of the gauge and not fluid...

Must get a better laptop.
