Aircon re gassing info

I tried to get my aircon re gassed today but the local garage would prefer more information, Does anyone know the total system content, oil content or any other useful details. A search of the forum shows refrigerant masses quoted as anything between 400g and 1kg.

Hi GT

Mines a 2003 but going on the sticker on the panel infront of the aircon:

Refridgerant - R134A
Charge - 0.75 - 1.00 Kg
Oil Type - PAG Oil SP-10
Oil Amount - 150ml

Mine's a '99 so guess the same too. Need to get mine re-gassed for the summer, is it a straight forward job? Would most places know where the bits and bobs go or is it best to go to an indie/dealer? (I've no idea how you re-gas, I presume a hose gets plugged in somewhere).

I had mine done a couple of summers back by my local TwitFit. Drove in, went off to the shops for a bit, came back to lubberly cold air

Cant remember how much it cost but it wasnt a lot

There are valves on the pipes that go to and from the compressor which normally have plastic dust caps on them. The system is charged via these as far as I know.

Between £50 and £60 seems to be the current going rate for a full system evacuation, vacum test, oil and recharge.
