Having just purchased a nice set of 17 inch RL-7s I am looking for a pair of rear tyres.

Fronts are Bridgestone S02 and are hardly worn.
Rears are same make but slick on inside edge and 2.5mm over the rest of the tyre.

Thinking of fitting a rear pair of Toyos.

Can anyone see any problem with running rear Toyos and front Bridgestones (or have any other recommended brands)??
Are Toyos better than Bridgestones - grip, wear and ride comfort??

Any advice gratefully received.

(edited for plug: set of original 16 inch wheels and very good S02 tyres available for sale shortly - trackdays?)

No idea, but I don't see why you can't put Toyo's on the back.

I've got a set of Toyo's on my 16's at the moment and very happy with them. I've also got a set of 17's in the garage with SO2's on the rear and Toyo's on the front, I think, or maybe it's the other way around.

When they run out I'll be putting Toyo all round.

I had the same problem a while back so2s on the front which were fine, but the rears were shagged. Fitted toyos and had no problems with handling that I could notice, if that helps?

Through a lot of thrashing and testing... (IME)

Bridgestone S03 PP's on Rear (nothing else!)

and front:

Either Goodyear Eagle GDS3 or a pair of the new Vredstein Ultracs.

After driving with this combination, I can honestly say, I will never return to Toyo's or go all Bridgestones....

But this is my experience... I'm sure others have their own views, really depends on how you drive your beast...

In theory, no problem running different tyres on the front and back at all - different makes/models have different characteristics, some of which are good, some of which aren't. I quite liked Proxes all round on the Cerb for road driving; good for the money if not supreme in dry grip/predictability.

When I bought mine it had Cheap S***te Tyres on the back & Bridgestones on the front - no problems with them working together. I am trying to wear out my rears though!

I was running S02's on the front and TS-1's on the rear and found it was fine...in fact better than when I had S02's all round....Toyo's had more grip over the S02's and it could be noticed, but with the way I drove it, I might as well have had slicks on it!!!
