Another tyre thread. (sorry)

Been costing up a few options and would like some feed back on the following. Its hards getting like for like comparisons on the internet as a lot of reviews are performed on FWD and AWD cars. Very few light RWD reviews.

I'm really after dry weather opinions, I dont really push it in the wet so I would sacrifice wet weather grip for ultimate dry performance.

For the price id go with the Federals, they are what ill be buying when the Dunlops have given up. Loads of good feedback on the trackday forums and last longer than 888'. Having said that if its only for the road and no track then any of the above will suffice.

If its for proper track work, get some spare 17" wheels and some slicks!

I've got a set of 17 RL's in the garage. Its more for day to day road use. Though as I really only drive in anger when its dry I thought track day tires would be suitable too.

Steve_T and I have found some posts that show cracking after very little use. I think this could be a minority of cases and from the sounds of it using old stock. Which trackday forums have good reviews of the federals?

Try looking on Driftworks or Northloop, both have people on who have tried and rate them highly, havent seen any cracking info about them as yet though.

As an aside the Kuhmo V70 are also rated pretty highly in a hard compound they last well and are up there with 888' and the RSR in terms of grip apparently.

any idea what size slicks would fit on 17" RL's. The slick sizing is too complicated for my head at this time of day...

Also not the correct size for the fronts.

If you use 235/40/17 tyres the equivalent slick is 235/610/17

235 is the width of the tread

610 is the outside diameter of the tyre

17 is the inside diameter of the tyre

Might get a couple for the 1/4 mile event I'm attending. Seen some on ebay going for £50
