Throttle Cable snapped! Any tips for refitting?

Hi, the cable on my Sp6 broke today, so need to fit a new one tomorrow. Anyone out there got any tips / pitfalls on refitting that I should know in advance?

When mine broke I just bought a brake cable off a bicycle and threaded it through the existing sleeve and secured it at the pedal end.

I think the job cost me €2 and it's still fine 3 or 4 years later.

If it is routed similar to the V8 i would recomend that you tie a piece of string to the existing cable and pull it out then tie the string to the new cable and pull it back.

I did the same and used a screwed nipple from a motorist centre...took half an hour and cost £3!! That was a year ago and I carry a spare in the boot just in case.

Well, I managed to replace the broken one; took me three hours or so - the bolts were UNF on the accelerator pedal, which had to be removed to fit the new cable, and the fitting at the end of the new cable was smaller than the hole in the mounting bracket at the top!. Had to refit the old nylon bush, and drill it out to fit the new cable. With the constricted space, and slow overall progress, was quite relieved to finish the job!!!!
Never again (hopefully!!!)
