660 BHP in the snow!

Works perfectly!
I had to find a reason to go to the shops this morning.... through the woods up and down the hills, down little lanes and via no major roads
Have to say the Ferrari FF is one of the best cars I have owned. Usable in every single condition, easy to drive, yet still a true Ferrari at heart.
Off out with the family in it now to go sledging!

interesting you say the FF works well. I had a 911 turbo (997) which was completely useless in the snow last year - it wouldnt stop as the abs kicked in until it got good grip from the tyres - which was never. quite lethal.
ended up using my merc sl (sl 350 2009) which was much better - quite the opposite to what i expected. my conclusion was that 4x4 is only relevant on a proper 4x4 vehicle with chunky tyres etc.

I got caught out by the snow last week when I decided to use the A roads to drive across Scotland in an effort to get to get to know my new 430 better. Was an interesting drive and certainly glad to have done it but I wouldn't have chosen to drive on snow covered back roads. Hats off to you sir.

Anybody ventured out in a good old-fashioned "completely useless in the snow" supercar
this weekend? Sadly the roads by me are all salted and slushy as the temperature rose this morning.
am so tempted though with 4wd it will probably be better than my alpina....

Tyres are critical - every car has four brakes and four wheels, whether two or four wheel drive. Four wheel drive cars get you going when others can't but tyres get you stopping! Porsche likely had summer performance tyres on it. With a set of Pirelli sotozeros or equivalent (winter tyre for performance cars) it would be a different car in the snow.ended up using my merc sl (sl 350 2009) which was much better - quite the opposite to what i expected. my conclusion was that 4x4 is only relevant on a proper 4x4 vehicle with chunky tyres etc.

my car was fine apart from scooping too much snow into the front rads
good on you for venturing out....
tiff did a piece with a gallardo (LP) i think on a snow track,,,, with snow tyres, the car drove itself impeccably..... it was for this reason the FF was spawned, to get some of the ski slope business back...

yes it had normal summer tyres on it as do pretty much all cars in the UK. Im sure it would have been different with winter tyres but given our very infrequent snow in London at least i doubt many/any have the spare winter tyres/wheels. The Merc was much more capable in the snow and given that rwd Mercs and Bmws are pretty much the worst cars in the snow by reputation it shows how bad the 911 was.labrit said:
Been having some fun too:

Would you have been driving past Angel tube station last night at like 9pm? Sure I saw an 11 plate Gallardo giving it the beans, I was thinking "that's commitment" seeing as it was properly snowing! That and the pizza delivery lads on motorbikes, not sure if they have good life insurance but who would drive a motorbike in those conditions
