This is my Eleanor:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3970012.htm

Complete automotive perfection. The absolute zenith. TDF, tan, spanish.

Wibble.

I didn't think one in my perfect spec existed in the UK, in RHD, but it does and I can't afford it. I'm gutted.

Surely that would be a cast-iron investment, one so rare?

Beautiful! These late last of the line V12 manual Ferrari's are holding their money that's about 10-15k above an F1.

lovely just lovely.....we share a dream car.

I've driven a 550M and ever since I've been trying to convince myself that a 550/575 would make more sense than the 911.

But this was my perfect spec, recently sold by DK engineering was up at around 75k with 24k on the clock.

Beefmeister,

we share the same Eleanor.
To be really perfect to my eyes it should have the sport seats (that if I'm not wrong should be part of the Fiorano pack), then it has the steering wheel on the wrong side.....thumbup

I went in a 575m in the same colour combo as the OP has shown with a manual box. I didn't know they were so rare?! In any case it was a fantastic car, and the noise was to die for biggrin

I think there were only something like 14 RHD manual 575s made, so they're mighty rare!

I think there were 69 RHD manuals made, but still rare.

Rather spookily I saw a silver 550 with a manual gearbox parked up in Cheltenham earlier tonight. Looked really good.

Maranello at Egham confirm 69 manuals and 182 F1.

Approx 480 RHD 550s.

The 599 also came in a manual, but they are very hard to find, perhaps one or two in the country. The manual option on the California was only recently deleted, but Ferrari will still supply one as a special order. It just requires a bigger cheque- I was told this by a main dealer last week. He also mentioned the manual 599 he knew of was black, now that would be perfect...!

One of the manual 599s came up for sale a couple of years ago, in that deep burgundy I seem to remember.

Lots of money though - this 575 is cracking value at this price.

I'm still amazed, it really is perfect. My cup of want runneth over...

Funny how a spec which at the time was very odd, which into the trade would command an eye watering discount becomes hugely desirable later when it's up for sale. Or is it we're just gullable to the salesman's copywriting. There's a 550 in a ghastly Verdi colour that's still doing the rounds. Only now being sold as an incredibly rare 1 of something. I'm all up for individual taste but please this increasingly 1 of something rubbish needs to be flushed down the toilet.

I think that with this car, no-one in 2003 would have predicted that even the V8 Ferraris wouldn't have a manual option, so back then the notion of a manual V12 GT was a bit strange.

But now we long for a big V12 with the intimate connection that a manual 'box brings.

I'm dreaming of a garage which is a shrine to the manual gearbox. There would be this 575, a 250 SWB, F40, Carrera GT, GT3 RS 4.0 and Aston V12 Vantage Roadster. I seriously doubt that in 10 years any of them will be worth less than their current value...

I get it. And agree. But why then a 575? It was clearly designed for semi auto. OK, I'm not neutral, I have a 550 and it's all the things you say and more. Plus it's better than a 575 (and currently cheaper). Don't get more wrong. If someone desires a 575 with a stick shift, cool. Each to their own. But I find the salesman jargon about this sort of spec being a rare 1 of something like listening to squeaky brakes.

i was thinking long and hard about one of these. love the 575 to death, classy elegant and makes a beautiful noise. the f1 gearbox in the 575 versus the 599, driven both is a fair bit slower. I really would want to get the manual 575 and keep it as an investment. All 550s were manual so thats why the 575 manual has more appeal, even in europe there is only 3 manuals for sale! They are rare so Im falling for the salesman's chat here!

Exactly. Salesman's blurb doesn't mean much to me - all I know is that the 575 is an amazing car with the Fiorino pack, and i want to shift gears myself in my big V12 GT, so this is perfect.

I really hope someone on PH buys it and it doesn't get shipped to Japan!

Classic Cars Magazine doesn't even track the 575 so as investment grade I'd be careful. Especially with a manual box. I'd hate to have to sell one of those into the trade anytime soon. Lamb to slaughter. Enjoy anyway.

575M HGTC manual would be my Eleanor.

A mate had a Rosso Corsa 575M manual...he offered me a drive once and I declined! Idiot!

What a car!

edited: he of course took a massive bath on the car when he sold it...
