He was in Rugby at the weekend. A friend of mine saw him and thought it was me. I have mixed feelings about that. I'll take the compliment on behalf of the car.

Yes it is, it was spotted at Goodwood parked in the supercar paddock. The reg no is S8 FNE and the invoice sheet was on the windscreen reading a total of £263,146.

"FNE" - Ferrari North Europe.

Also, what is it with journo's getting getting basic stuff wrong in articles? They refer to the car as his F355.

Really winds me up as these people have the opportunity to write to a big audience but cannot even summon the brain power to research stuff like that by Googling it.

The DM is a regular offender when it comes to getting basic facts wrong.

God forbid that the DM ever lets a silly thing like the truth get in the way of a story!

It is just me or did FNE have a taste bypass in specifying this 458 with gold wheels? Too bling for my liking.

As an aside, has anyone on here met/know Clarkson? He comes across to me as a bit of an idiot (albeit at times an amusing idiot) and a perfect spokesperson for the DM's views and beliefs. Is that a put on or is he really like that?

It shifts newspapers, magazines, and dvd's. I suspect he knows exactly what he's doing, though if you play a part for so long it must be difficult not to become that character without a lot of effort. He'd be a hoot at a dinner party IMO

It was fascinating reading the itemised options. They were all in round pound signs with no loose pence.

The gold finish is £1,238 on top on the 20" painted alloys at £3,617. The carbon fibre wheel caps are £367 and for the sake of it, the titanium wheel bolts are £1,919....

Got to say, you have a splendid car collection and I hope to view your 599 GTO one day.

That's a silly amount of money for this car. Isn't the base price 180k-ish??

Demo cars are always loaded to the gunwhales with every conceivable extra. There's no point having a bum-basic demo car if you want to show off the options to a prospective customer.

If you're arguing that Ferrari are a bunch of rip-off merchants for charging X hundred pounds to spray paint a brake caliper then we're in full agreement.

Agreed, and absolutely agreed. If people pay it.. they will charge it, happily.

When I was at Fiorano I rather liked a pearlescant red with black roof car they had there, it looked lovely.

Then I found out the red is special colour, £13k and the blakc roof a further £8k, so nearly £22k in paint.....I went off it after that!
