The CH method of car ownership:

Wait for prices to drop, buy car, promote the car, values rise, sell car.

The Garlick method of car ownership:

Buy car (usually old and in need of lots of work), spend lots of money on work, wait for prices to fall, sell car.

Think my E28 M5 (£900 so far this year) W124 (£300 and rising fast) and assorted (costly to keep running)French tat goes some way to balancing the books.

Great used buy although perhaps a wee bit premature. An 05/06 F430 at mid 60's makes huge sense and a 599 will be fully ripe in another 12 months-ish imo.

Why is there always a negative undertone with Chris Harris and his (expensive) car purchases?

If I remember he came on, basically explained he didn't sell his nan or begin selling drugs, and earns the money required to pay for them legitimatly, so why should he not enjoy the reward of buying a car that gains value like everybody else that purchased a 4.0 new?

Health to drive and enjoy!

Will Luca Cordero di Montezemolo now give you more favourable access to forthcoming Maranello exotica?!

Yea i notice this PH trend, it can be a hostile place around here from what i read. I thought this was a place were petrol heads hang with a common love of all things mecanical no matter what the price tag.
I am currently following his thread over on the bikers forum, some of the responces make me ashamed to be a biker. Interesting that his new Ferrari 599 purchace was first reveiled on twitter and not on PH.
Read and watched this guys reports for years, its great that he postes here.

Nice purchase. You can't fault the man....he's got taste. IIRC correctly he ran a 612 a few years ago so he's definitely got form!

Hmm, nice purchase, but from what I read of his views on the 4.0RS it seemed he loved the car.

Nice colour.

Good lord.

Used ferrari prices seem to be all over the place at the moment. It seems for not much more money (relatively speaking, of course) you can go from a 348/355 to a 430/612/599.

Good man.

I was perusing the classifieds only yesterday and reflecting on the apparent and sudden downturn in 599 prices so that they now start in the mid 80's.. This was unthinkable even a short while ago.

So will 599 prices coming off impact the pries of 575's and perhaps 550's ? Or don't Ferrari prices work like that ? a 599 for £20k more than a 575 seems like decent value ?
