£35k Ferrari 360 modena
Discussion
I saw this and I am seriously tempted... Is it worth the money or is 80k miles far too much?
Would resale be impossible?

hi
just my two pence worth, but i think it is seriously over priced. there was a 612 with that kind of miles for similar money...... and for about 5k more you could get one with 20-30k miles on it, but prob not in resale red.... if it was 30k i might be tempted.......im sure someone will disagree with me

Even with those not very nice wheels I would say go for it.
The gearbox would the clincher for me - it's a proper one with that beautiful slotted gate. I have said it before - I love that gearbox & I love the way it looks just sitting there. Waiting to be used.
It's how every Ferrari should be propelled IMO.

30k Max with those miles...
Thanks for your input. I love the wheels like that and at 30k I think I would have already made an appointment.
I don't think they will go that low though. Maybe if it was a private sale. Considering they just spent 8K bringing it up to speed its doubtful.
It's cliche but I definitely have would have to have a red Ferrari for my first one
I do think it would be hard to sell come resale time as its a lot of miles. I think saving a little bit more for a lower mile example might be a better idea.
Originally I had my eye on a GTR just for pure speed but I thought How often would I use that speed (I don't track) and how exciting would this ferrari be to drive

I was worried it was the track day one actually. I've emailed the seller about it
I presume that the trackday car you're thinking about was the red one from the Knockhill experience? If so, don't worry, as I saw that on sunday at the Hopetoun House Italian Car day and it is still in its previous guise with knockhill stickers and 18" challenge wheels - so not the car in the photo. If it is a different track day car you're thinking of, just disregard me!

I agree with the others, it's too expensive for a car with those miles, another £2-3k would see you get something like this:

You've got to wonder what it would be worth with 90-100k miles on it. I bet trade bids would be about £25k max for it as it stands.

That's my big concern. I'd be buying a 360 over other cars partly because a lot of the depreciation has occurred and over a few years i'd probably lose max £10k depreciation plus all other costs of running say £10k over 3 yrs.
I want a car to enjoy for a few years that will retain its value to a degree with an easyish resale potentital should I want to move on or put my money into a house.
If it has 80k now and I put 15k on over 3-4 yrs we are talking close to the dreaded 100k which would make it very hard to sell I imagine.
For an extra 10% I could get a lower miles one. I just really want a red one
Maybe I should wait slightly longer and save for a spider. Ah so many decisions!

if anyone is interested look at the price at the top of the ad rather than in the body of the ad!http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3833637.htm

And here's a 308 with the same miles for the same price. Given its 30 years older, it must actually be worth close to £3.95 and a bag of crisps...

I'm busy toying between a 360 or another 911, at the lower end of the 360 market.
Those miles make it a no-goer for me.
I've had my eye on that blue one for a while and if it was a manual I'd have been there already.
Great car in my eyes with the CS wheels and a sports exhaust.
I drove a friends F1 the other month and didn't gel with it at all and swore not to buy one, but with the majority of cars in my budget being F1s, I'm starting to wobble a bit and consider them.
This looks ok apart from the yellow highlights, embarrassing reg plate and the fact it missed some servicing. Wouldn't bother me too much be honest, if it hadn't covered many miles in that period.

Go for blue - as you seem to like them - TdF is just superbe and classy, also nice contrast with side yellow badges. IMO it also ages really well, doesn't make the car look outdated at all.
Challenge wheels in 19" are a nice too (same as the ones fitted to F430 and can be had for 2kGBP a set roughly), yet the original star wheels aren't bad at all on TdF. The 18" Challenge seems to float a little too much.
And the rear Challenge grille makes a nice touch, even on blue.
