Where's all the Strads gone?.
Discussion
After years of a weak pound I bet plenty of the 120 or so originally sold to rhe UK have gone overseas. It would be interesting to know what the fleet still left in the UK is?
I wonder if/when values might rival or even better a Scuderia as many dealers seem to believe will happen (presumably based on nothing more than a bigger supply of Scuds around).

Had it up for 94995 and I had to check with BT that the phone was actually still connected. Ended up selling it through John McGurk, he did a great job and couldn't have been more helpful. Sold for high 80's as mentioned, I can't remember the actual number!
It makes me laugh people advertising their cars at these inflated wishful prices. In reality it's a buyers market unless you're selling a GTO or SWB. Or something of that ilk.

With respect you'll always buy cheaper off independents than main dealers. I prefer to buy from main dealers if I can, purely for warranty and main dealer stamps if the car is to be prepared. No disrespect to McGurk though I have only heard good things about them,It makes me laugh people advertising their cars at these inflated wishful prices. The ones I've seen at crazy prizes are at independents and I also don't agree that you buy cheaper from independents, not necessarily anyway. Some, such as Furlongers and Cartwrights are very expensive. Good but expensive.
Independents do from time to time have more realistic prices, but not always, because often the individuals running the show really know what they are doing and where the market is. That isn't always the case with the main dealers. Some of them can't even tell the difference between a Maserati and a Ferrari.

Some of the ones up for sale at the inflated prices have been around for ages.
Guess it only takes one plonker to come along and pay over the odds
If you really want to know what your Strad is worth try chopping it in at a dealer.
They might be desirable as there are small numbers but they are also a niche product in a niche market and therefore the inflated prices have HUGE profit margins built in to allow for the stocking costs and extended times to sell

I agree with all that but it's just the same for every Ferrari and not just Strads. I'd say profits in Strads are proportional to every other model.Guess it only takes one plonker to come along and pay over the odds

Well said. Kind of what I was trying to say in a previous recent thread but you said it simpler and better. They might be desirable as there are small numbers but they are also a niche product in a niche market and therefore the inflated prices have HUGE profit margins built in to allow for the stocking costs and extended times to sell
I would say 65k to 85k sor on a Strad......Factory warranty, which the cars will no longer be eligible for of power train is all that is available due to their age when buying from a ferrari dealer....Having owned both, I would rather have a Scuderia, much better in all areas with the best/quickest gearchange I've experienced.

I'd agree with this again but the power train warranty is better than none and I believe would cover an engine/gearbox failure. I have always seen myself upgrading to a Scud because as said it's a better car in most ways, for me where it falls down is how it looks, still great but the CS is very much nicer in my opinion. I think when the time for a change actually comes I might skip the scud and go for a 458 on the basis that yet again it's a quantam leap forward, at the moment I wouldn't but I haven't driven the 458 yet.
