I know it's critical to have a Ferrari service history from a reputable garage, but, sometimes you would like some very minor work carried out without all the officialdum of booking into a garage with the rates to match.

No getting away from that important annual stamp but does anybody know of a ex-Ferrari mechanic local to London who takes on just a few repairs to keep his hand in it. I feel that it would be very comforting and handy to have a guy that does this work for the love of it not because it's his living.

A few years ago when I had a few problems with mine, this guy responded through Ferrarichat, www.cramersltd.co.uk who are based in Watford.

I believe he has a 365BB and has worked for Ferrari dealers in the past. Unfortunately he was too far away from me but might be worth a look.

There are many good specialists around London but I doubt you'll find anyone who does it for the love and does not expect to be paid

Do you have a job you love enough not to earn from it ?

Where was the comment by the OP that he would not pay?

I have one who would love to help, and happy to help him do jobs on the side like this. PM me the details and I'll see what I can do.
Cheers,

Ruttboy.

I had my 355 taken care of (up until c. 1.5 years ago when I sold it) by Paul Coster - Prestige Auto Care in East London. He was excellent and was available whenever I had a problem (including once coming to West London on a Sunday to sort out a stupid mistake I made on a Sunday afternoon free of charge). At the time, he was taking care of multiple Ferraris and a few Lambos. If/when I buy another car I would definitely go back to him.

Matthias

ps corrected some mistakes

Paul is very good, he worked on my mas gransport. He can be difficult to pin down, but it's worth persevering. Also autofficina, amongst others they had two F40s in last time I went...

I'd be interested in a character like this that is based up north somewhere. I do wonder about liability insurance if things go wrong, and I suspect if you have warranty it'll invalidate it.

I've a friend who's a current Ferrari main dealer master technician. He has years of experience and is very thorough. He may be interested, so PM what you're after and I'll ask if you like
I'm sure, like many technicians, he'd be up for some cash work

I just had some work done on my Porsche by a friend who is a mechanic at a main dealer of another German car maker. Saved me a fortune...Very useful to know when you don't need diagniostics but good old fashioned mechanics done.

Yup, been taking care of my 612 for almost 2 years. I tried most dealers in and around London and they all have one thing in common and I'm not allowed to say what it is due to Forum Rules.

For Maserati's the only useful dealer is Bill McGrath but they don't do newer models. In my experience at least.

Agree re: Paul. I'd see a few stamps from him in a service book as a positive when buying a car too.

That infers that the mechanic in question is still working on Ferraris because he loves to do so - which you would assume that the service provided would be top notch. Not that they will work for free.

Indeed. Many of us work on them for love of the marque. I'd earn far more working on German cars...

Well, I've been using Paul at Prestige the whole time, and still am FWIW.
