My first supercar (Gallardo) - but which exhaust?

So picking up my first decent car (56 Gallardo spyder) next week and after doing some research and watching lots of videos - I am seriously considering either the Fabspeed supersport x pipe exhaust....

- I have been out in the RSC equipped car, which was perfect - does anyone on here have the Fabspeed system on theirs by any chance?
I know of the other more well known brands (tubi,capristo etc) but they are double the price and I can't see where the extra money goes compared to the above systems.
I am also after a good quality Outdoor cover for the car and would welcome any suggestions.

Only option is to get a good quality cover really - will be using the car alot, so leaving the car somewhere else would be a pain in the arse ... dont mind the agro involved using a cover all the time as i did that a few years ago with an elise. - It will be parked under lots of trees and bushes though so i need it protected from all the crap!
Outdoor covers - to add to the scratching, unless the car is clean, this will be especialy bad if you plan on using it a lot. I'd also be worried about putting a cover straight onto a very hot car. They vent a lot once stood still.
Exhaust - I'd really live with the standard one a while. These aftermarket systems give negligable at best, generaly zero power, and can be a right pain in the ass if you intend using it rather than starting it occasionaly to impress friend with how loud it is. The Spyder standard exhausst was perfect when I used mine almost every day. Last car I put a "sports exhaust" on it was great fun for about a month, then it was a pain / embarrasment and I took it off!

seems no ones a fan of the outdoor car cover then .. issue is the car will be parked in a shared residential car park where the average car parked there is worth 10k at best. The area is a low crime spot and quite, however i would just prefer the car to be a bit more out of site when parked. The best spot will be right over in the corner where i can park my daily runabout next to it to block it in so to speak, its just this spot is under all the trees bushes etc. looked into mobile type car ports / marquee type things but look a bit fragile and would look silly /OTT in a residential car park. With regards to exhausts - i think its when the car has been decatted that the noise becomes a bit silly with all the pops and bangs etc .. i have been in a decatted tubi car which i could see would become tiresome after a while, so will be leaving the cats alone.
Having been in UH-MATTS car (RSC exhaust) - i found the system perfect as you just drive in a higher gear in lower revs and the noise is not too much. The fabspeed system looks very similar and also seems to be drivable and not to noisy in the lower rev range.
Would still like to listen to the fabspeed system in person though.

The standard one is more than loud enough when the flaps open up, and as noise is the only "gain" you can wire them open if you like for about 10p worth of garden wire!
There was a thread a while ago where a guy actualy rolling roaded a car with various exhausts and in every case the aftermarket loud one lost power compared to standard despite all the manufacurers claims. Might have even been on a Gallardo, or maybe a Ferrari, can't be sure.
Loud exhaust just seem a bit like willy waving to me personally.

I was the one doing the testing and we did complete it and the RSC and FI Exhausts both gave good power gains.
I have the FI on my car and spoke with the OP but quite rightly he seems concerned as to wether my advice was based on me being in the industry rather than factual (no offence taken) but I don't and never have sold exhausts, I get great deals on them but tent to pass people over to the companies direct.
Someone commented earlier in this thread about exhausts and how most don't make power, our findings on this car were that most lost power. I wasn't able to publish the findings as 4 of the 6 companies involved refused our request.

Am not really concerned about adding power as the car is fast enough already (for a road car) but for me the noise of the car is really important .... standard car once inside feels and sounds like a top end audi (which is good)...but with the exhaust, you really know your in a supercar.
Looking like its going to be the RSC exhaust at the mo - however the Fabspeed system is looking very attractive as the noise sounds superb and the cost is very low (£1,650) ish delivered here.
I'm certainly not the attention seeking type (hence the car is grey - not orange/yellow etc) but i feel the exhaust makes the driving experience more fun.
I will look into renting a garage locally but the only garages i have seen locally are the old council type garages you see in rows. I would rather leave the car where i live in a better area than leave it in a garage like that really.

As for the exhaust, fabspeed ones sound awesome, I was at the factory in Phili in december and they have a wonderful setup and the sound is awesome. Ive also worked with RSC who only make the highest of quality systems so both are great options for sound and build.
Have you thought about asking others on here to listed to theirs but more importantly, to drive one or be passenger for a few miles ?
Reason I say this is I had a tubi on my last Ferrari and the wife hated the drone sound so removed it and went to Larini and then one Miltek did for me.
First sounds from the exhaust can be nice but the drone as you drive it can be a whole different experience, nice for a small journey but deafening over any half distance.
I am an owner and would gladly take any other forum member out so he could hear, I'm sure most here are the same.
If you've got your heart set on an aftermarket exhaust then go for it, don't let the 'willy waving' comments above put you off.

Makes me feel a bit better on the rare occasion mine gets exposed to the elements, they can handle it! I personally wouldn't ever have a supercar without a garage, but if you're comfortable with it (and it seems you are), then do it.

Take a look at "professional car storage" on Google, or similar keywords. If an aftermarket exhaust is a must, and you're not a wallflower, aim for a cat-bypass that shoots flames out the back (take care at MOT time). Endless fun

Im a professional car detailer and I come across cars stored under covers very often, and often those customers want me to remove the scratches the covers have created. My advice would be avoid it. Your car will be better off without it.
I think it also depends on how often you plan on using your car as well.
For example if your car was outside, snd only did 1,200 miles in the first year so it was stationary for a lot of the time. Probably only driven ever 1-3 weeks, I'd rather risk a bit of marring than leave it exposed.
You just have to be very very careful. If it's a car that you need to just jump in and use as and when, then it'll be a lot of hassle. My tips for using a cover...
1. Make sure the car is extremely clean and dry
2. Secure the cover tight to stop/minimise movement
3. Use a breathable cover so any moisture is allowed to evaporate through the material.
Some have experienced marring on their cars from car covers, again be selective on what you buy.
Only thing I would say is that leaving it a public road is not ideal as it'll attract attention and also when it's really windy it's not great (Scratch galore)

Good info, but playing devil's advocate my question (if it were me in the OP's position) would be: given that my car costs £1400 per year to park in a secure underground car park (in SW London), would a car kept outside under an outdoor cover incur more than £1200/year in detailing to correct the marks that might arise due to the cover? If not and secure parking costs were comparable and the OP lived in a decent area, then I'd be tempted to just keep it outside with the cover and have a good detail done a few times a year to correct blemishes....I think it also depends on how often you plan on using your car as well.

Additionally, IME in London there is little discount in insurance premium for a car being in a car park as opposed to on the street. They're not an "impulse theft" car. And if someone wants to steal high end cars, the first place they'll go if they have any nouse is "secure" underground car parks as they're gold mines in town.
Yeah £1200 a year for detailing isn't bad compared to parking in London. However the problem or my problem as an owner in this situation will be the fact one day I will have to use the car and it wont be in its perfect state. I would want my Gallardo looking like its just left the factory at all times, I would hate scratches and marring marks all over it especially guilty knowing it was mainly me that caused it and not the public
