Did the whole "All 458's regularly burst into flames and smash into central reservations" panic actually have any basis in fact?

I'm gently easing into time for a change territory and 458's are on the radar, anything to avoid? I'd probably be looking at low mileage 12 or 13's. Can I expect the car to explode when I open the door?
