Hi Chaps,

My GT MC shift has started to come up with a warning message which states "Check Transmission Go to Dealer" - the car will not go above 2nd gear unless whilst driving I put it in to neutral and then hit a pedal shifter at which point depending on which speed I am at it selects a suitable gear. This happened a few weeks ago as well and all was fine the next morning and happened again last night but the error message had gone this morning.

This happens after I am in stop start traffic for more than an hour - Im hoping it is not my clutch as generally with those the car tends to keep going back to Neutral itself but mine is not doing that. Clutch life at the least reading a few months ago was 74% but the clutch is definitely slipping in first gear rather badly when this message appears. After the message goes away the clutch feels normal again.....does it over heat and go mental ?

Sounds to me like the clutch us on its way.

Pop over to www.sportsmaserati.co.uk, someone there will tell you for certain. It might be that the PIS needs adjusting or something, but at 74% worn, you won't be far off a new clutch.

Thanks Pork. The car needs a new clutch - being done this week and should be back in action next week biggrin

PS - I only bought her 4 weeks back so the dealer is paying for the clutch replacement biggrin

I don't believe many GTs have needed clutches yet. What's the miles?

What makes you think that?

Mines an MC Shift - done 30k miles

The dealer has told me he has done a few MCS clutches now.

I had heard that clutches were lasting longer on the GT than on the 4200 but at 30k miles possibly not.

It sure is as leaves me with a car to enjoy without worrying about clutch life biggrin

MC shifts that spend a lot of time in city traffic can go through clutches quickly...

Yes it's hours rather than miles!
