A friend has a garage, and is deathly quiet at this time of year. He did a very long and drawn out job for me for peanuts just to fill some time (new discs, pads, and calipers fitted for 1 hour's labour on the bill).

This had me thinking if other places and/or main dealers are the same, and a chat to a Testarossa owner revealed he saves quite a chunk getting it serviced at this time of year.

I've seen the old debate about "do you service it before or after the winter layup" (to which I say "I'm in Devon, what winter?") but I wonder if there are deals out there at this time of year if you're due a major service plus cambelts?

Quieter garages offer deals during winter. The better ones tend to be busy all year round regardless of the weather..

TFC in Maidstone generally offer 10% or more off in Jan Feb period each year, which I guess is worth saving on a major service.
Only issue is getting the car filthy that time of year with salt etc on roads.

This. I booked mine in for mid November....or at least that's what I wanted. It's being seen next week as they were booked out a month in advance.

My Scud is being collected tomorrow for an annual service (main agents manchester)
No discount yet being collected and returned in a covered transporter without any extra cost

I think its worth building a relationship with the dealer as this pays dividends for all parties.
I use the supercar rooms for my servicing and in return they look after me with prices and someone who knows my various cars works on them for the life of my ownership.
This works for me.
