Gents

I know this is an obscure one... I have been kidding myself that I am really comfortable in my GT. I'm 6'4" and could just do with the driver's seat being an extra 4 to 6 inches further back than the current maximum. I can manage ok, but don't feel as comfortable as I do in my other cars.

Can anybody profer any advice on repositioning the seat either by a mechanical 'work around' on the current seat mechanism or physically moving the seat further back... I guess by drilling/ fitting new mounts.

Any advice would be gratefully received... and if anyone knows anyone who can do the work.. reccomendations would be very welcome.

Thank you

A

I haven't looked at the mounts in a GT, but I have taken seats out of several other cars, and the process seems to be largely just two bolts front and rear of the runner.

The seat travels on the runner within a set of limits, so the only way I could see would be to move the runner back.

Probably the simplest way of doing this would be to find an engineering company to make some adapter plates that use the original mounts, but then replicate the mounts a few inches further back. Downsides would be that the fronts would be visible, and that your seat would also be slightly higher as the mounting points would no longer be part of the cabin floor. I'd suggest full length mounting plates, rather than 4 small adapters, as then there's no chance of them twisting, and stainless steel can be polished or machine finished to look fairly pretty.

There are plenty of these places scattered around still, especially if you're in the Woking Traingle where a lot ofracing cars are built. When I was in Reading I had some odds and sids made 15 years ago for a custom bike from a firm that had a shelf full of F1 brake calipers waiting to go out (can't remember who it was though).

Look for "precision Engineers" or "stainless CNC milling"
