Seems this topic has gone away. But I am re starting it.
So which one? A 2002 for £10K that probably needs £4k spent on it or a 2004 for £13K?
Is age everything? Should I look for as new car as possible even if it has more miles?
I know service history is important and won't look at anything without.
What major parts need to be changed /checked on a 10 year old car?
i am starting to learn via various chat rooms and have seen lists of "vital" work that needs to be done but what is really important?
Budget is about £18k which unfortunately means a gransport is out of range.
Many thanks for any help

Get a Gransport if you can - you missed the boat on this one but there have been others that went for similar money - not much lover for masers on PH try the sportsmaserati forum

That 10k one has four different types of tyres.

If they have been tight enough to only change one tyre at a time what else have they scrimped on?

I looked at that car for someone a few weeks ago - the money it sold at was an utter bargain.

Get yourself onto sportsmaserati - they're a real helpful bunch and will assist you in your search.

Buy a well looked after car, lot of small jobs can easily amount to thousands. Keep on top of them all should be well, but can bite hard if neglected. Suspension brakes and tyres can easily cost 5k. Cars are cheap for a reason!

Thank you for your very helpful reply
Your car looks great
I have a 2002 with 63k miles for £14900 locally but it has a very strong history
Yours sounded better value so may look at a cheaper car and prepare for some bills
Thank you for spending the time

Just starting to look at these myself. I do love the 3200 but too many scary stories seem to revolve around them.

I don't fancy a 911 but want something special and a bit different - the maser fits the bill.

How do you find running one of these as a daily driver?

At the omens it would be a station car 10 mile round trip daily and the occasional airport trip, weekends etc so probably somewhere around 8k a year.

Previous 645 was a good blend of power and easy traffic drive when needed so guess I'm trying to replicate that with something a bit more special. determined to grow old disgracefully smile

These cars make great daily drivers, intact I would go as far to say that they are better as a daily driver than as a garage queen. They really need to be used and I had mine for 2 years without any problem at all, used most days to get to work and then for the odd trip to south of France etc., They are incredible value for money and always feel special, if you have the chance, just do it. Personally I didn't like the CC 'box and had a manual which if the linkage is properly adjusted is a delight to use and not al all clunky but depends on personal preference. Good luck, they are great bits of kit.
