Hi all

I am going down to the Alps for a long weekend later this month and will be breaking the return leg by stopping somewhere between Metz and Reims. Does anybody have any suggestions for a hotel with good secure parking in this area?

Thanks

Can't comment on Metz but there is a good Best Western in the middle of Reims which has an underground car park. Maser went in no problem and from recollection think it was about Euro 20 a night.

The public Erlon car park in the centre of Reims is first class. Plenty of expensive metal in there. I was there last autumn; €15 for the night iirc.

I've stayed here several times on the way back from Switzerland. Reasonable hotel and secure private underground parking. Nearly always saw a lot of expensive metal there. It's right in the middle of Rheims with loads of restaurants around.

Thanks all for some great suggestions. I should have said that I am travelling with my hairy arsed army mate so a romantic chateau/castle would be a bit odd. However those have been earmarked for when my wife and I are passing through. Best Western in Reims fits the bill for this trip and is now booked.

Stayed here a few weeks back...
Overpriced, stuffy & boring IMO...

L'assiete Champanoise was way better & the food was outstanding!

Nice to hear. I'm there in September on way back from Venice/Alps. Was at Crayeres last year and thought it was good too. The Royal Champagne outside Epernay is a good place (near to Reims but quieter) with easy and secluded parking.

Haven't been to les Crayeres for about 5 years but the service, food and accommodation were outstanding!

Forgot to say it would be worthwhile reserving a car park space by email now, in case they have a full house (car park) when you`re there, there is a charge of about 13Euros from memory.

We planned to stay in Reims over night last year, after a good drive round we decided to bypass and go straight to the tunnel, absolutely horrible place and not worth the undoubted sleepless night worrying about the car imo

As has been said above... Reims is a Roma gypsy filled poop hole, apart from the old circuit (which is also underwhelming) it doesn't really have much going for it.

If it's the area you roughly want to take a break in then consider http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/le-clos-du-mont-d-... because this place is out in the countryside and the owners are lovely, car would be stored out of site behind a locked gate

Also maybe consider Troyes, it's actually a really nice and pretty town. We have also stayed in the Mecure hotel which has a secure underground car park. We stayed in the duplex junior suite. We turned up at 23:00 and got the room for about £85
