348 oil pressure help

what sort of pressure should i be looking for
at idle on a hot engine,plenty there when you rev it
the engine has only done 19k
i dont think them electrical gauges are that good
any ideas please
what is the correct method of checking the oil

I see you posted on FerrariChat which would have been my suggestion. Having never owned a 348 I can't answer you specifically, but it all sounds pretty normal to me.

At idle, both the Modena & the 456 oil pressure guages are near the 'zero' point on the guages. You get plently of pressure if you put load on the engine, which is the important bit.

And thank goodness you can't see any oil on the dipstick when cold, since it means they haven't overfilled it. This engine has a dry sump which means you check the oil level when the engine is hot. Need to see the owners manual since it may need to be running as well (a la 360 Modena).

Need to stress that I don't own one so may be wrong, but it all sounds pretty normal to me. An by the way, so is worrying about it!

My 348 had about 30 lbs of oil pressure at idle, regardless of outside temperature. It should rise instantly to above 75 lbs when the engine revs are increased. As Kevin said, dry sump oil should be checked with the engine warm. Switch it off and check the level. The 348 has about 12 litres of oil so even at the min level on the dipstick don't panic, and don't over fill it.
