anybody had both 430 and V8V who can advise?
Discussion
considering either a 430 or a V8V as a new toy and would like adviuce from someone who has owned both, particularly about the ownership experience.
I get the impression from comments received so far that the V8V is likely to be less reliable and more expensive to own. Plus it seemed when I drove it to be less of a sports car which is odd given how successful it has been in racing.

I've had both. V8V super reliable and much cheaper to own. Easy daily.
f430 completely different. Epic, loud, proper sports car. Could be used daily but wouldn't suggest it. Servicing cost roughly the same but more goes wrong (ball joints, track rod arms, possibly manifold issue).
I'd choose the f430 by a million miles.

I've had both, very different cars making a direct comparision unrealistic, however ownership is very enjoyable for again very different reasons, decide what expectations you need the car to meet, test drive both then work back from there would be my advice...for pure excitment and sense of occasion the Italian KO's the plucky Brit' in the first round....good luck

I have a 360 and a V8V. In summary... the Ferrari and Aston are both great cars but have far less in common than you would imagine. Ownership costs are in a similar ballpark. Not surprisingly, it is a question that has been asked a few times on PH (here and in the Aston forum) so if the search function is working then you will get a lot of info from folk who have gone one way or the other.

have you considered a DBS ? fantastic cars !
No. Got a garage space problem and want a soft top so it has to be garaged. Looking for something a bit special hence the two alternative. If it was speed only then I'g go for the V8 F type which is ballistic and which I rather liked.Keep getting the same message wherever I have asked , that the Ferrari is the special one. Its the idea of spending 90k on a toy for a couple of thousand summer miles a year that makes me hesitate. After a lifetime of saving to get to the point where I can afford the car, it is really difficult to break the saving habit and spend. Not an issue that my son gets near understanding!

owned both. the v8v i bought new in 2007. great car ....good looking, epic sound, lovely cabin etc.etc. not massively quick though.I get the impression from comments received so far that the V8V is likely to be less reliable and more expensive to own. i didn't get the trade in deal i was after on a db9 so looked further afield after a good few years of aston ownership. i bought my first 430. grigio silverstone and manual. oh my god, what a car!! ...so much so that when the other half forced me to sell it in favour of a range rover (2 kids and all that) i lasted exactly 3 months before i had to get another. rosso/crema this time and a manual again.
the 430 will cost more to run for sure. but residual values are way stronger so it balances out.
honestly,??? the 430 is in a different league. that's not doing down the v8v. it's just that the 430 is so much better than anything else i've ever driven
