Is it mandatory by law to build cars with odos? What would happen If a manufacturer decided to build a car without an odometer. Would it put to rest the sometimes (often?) artificial valuation people place on cars due to mileage? Would it force people to buy on condition instead. It would put the odo correction people out of business. What about the impact on manufacturers?

How would you monitor use from a servicing perspective?

Many cars at services based on individual component wear rather than mileage. On my a8, the light would come on and you'd take it in, there wasn't strictly a mileage based thing. This is more sensible - service it when it needs it, not change all the plugs and oil just because it's that time.

But condition would be shininess only and stuff does wear out. Servicing is only a part of general maintenance.
Buying a second hand car would be like playing Russian roulette?

I get your sentiment but don't follow the logic......
