A question for you all.

If you had approx £100k to spend on something fast and interesting what would be your choice of car be?

Modern or classic, I'll let you decide.....

Stretch the budget a little for a 12C or get a 360/430 and have something in the rainy day fund

It depends what motivates you. All supercars are fast and beyond normal peoples' capabilities, so you need to choose what you want from it. Some people like the high-tech gadget side. Some want the sound-track. Some want the top-speed capability and some the rawness of the driving experience. Each car gives a different combination of these characteristics and each one of us is different, so one person's idea of the perfect car may suck for another.

My thoughts so far have been smile

12c (tried to buy on twice in the last couple of months)
Vantage V12s
Audi R8 V10 (possibly GT model)
M400 Noble (had a 3R in the past)
E type Jag (some form of lightweight)

I'd hot rod an air cooled 911 . No question .
A 3.2 or sc possibly even rs,ish a 964

All things I've actually done , so did put money where mouth is . Best fun per pound ever and at saner speeds to boot with the added bonus of teaching one to drive

This would be a great choice...

Seen in yesterday as was in garage looking at another car.... lovely...

I can pop in and have a scout about at as i am literally 5 mins off walking and lets face it most of the people who shop for this level of cars are always from 100's of miles away

Though I am biased as I believe the 550 Maranello remains one of the best all rounders you can buy. Discreet enough (in not red) to be under the radar, yet an absolute beast once you open up the throttle. Missed the boat on <100K RHD (let alone sub 50K examples less than 2 years ago), though I've no clue what the true selling prices are.

If you want to stand out more I'd personally look past the Gallardo's and MP4's (the latter just doesn't register for me at all), haggle a little and borrow a little if need be, and buy a 1st generation Murcielago:

Probably not as good a car as the later Gallardo's and obviously the McLaren, but I just love this. Manual, V12, doors that go up, and looks fantastic. Remove the little shelf bit (just a couple of screws) in the boot and it's actually really good sized (the shelf was only put in regarding regulations). I personally love the shape of early Murcielago's, I wouldn't even bother with the LP640 rear light mod either.

I really like the yellow Lambo apart from the black wheels! What is it with black wheels these days?
Hides all the detail badly. Maybe it's just me, everyone else seems to like them!

Agreed. The wheels are also the wonderful looking ''Hercules'' wheels (roadster wheels), which offer stunning detail...all gone by having them been painted black! I'd get them painted in titanium or simply grey myself:

I agree. Not expensive to change the colour. I unblacked my Murci wheels.
