Maserati GTS MC Shift clutch replacement?

Hello chaps,

Quick question, anyone know how expensive it is to replace a clutch on a maserati granturismo MC shift? Main dealer price and specialist price?

I know it is dependent on driving style etc but roughly how much mileage should you get out of these clutches. I see a lot of granturismos for sale with their mileage around 30k and no mention of a clutch change. I can't help but feel these are for sale because the owners know they have a big bill on the horizon.

The other option is to get the fully automatic S model but finding these with the trident alloys and side skirts and boot lip is quite hard. Plus I like the idea of he mc shift having a loud exhaust all he time as apposed to the automatic that opens it's valves at 3000 rpm.

Clutch replacement is between £2.5k - £3k depends if parts are re-serviceable or not

Clutch life depends very much on how and where (town) the car is driven - I know of 20k mileage replacements
I am sure there are some with less and there are 40k cars still on the original

Get a diagnostic on it and get a clutch readout

You can get the clutch wear read out from any car you're interested in.

When I did my research before buying, clutches were lasting extremely well and much much better than my earlier 4200 cambiocorsa.

On average cars with 30k miles were around the 25-40% worn mark. I replaced mine at ~70% worn as I noticed some engagement slippage, so years worth of driving without needing a replacement for a 30k miler. Cost is £2.5-3k depending on whether you need the flywheel replaced or not (can only tell once you take the housing off). Maserati contributed to the cost of mine though as mileage was quite low and wear was higher than average for the mileage. 100% go for the MC Shift, you won't regret it and the sound is intoxicating!

My previous car was an MC shift (2009 with 32k miles) and It needed a new clutch. Clutch life depends on where a car has lived. A car out in the Scottish Highlands would have had an easier life than one living in Central London. My clutch was replaced at Giallo in Kent and the dealer picked up the tab as the car was only a month old when it failed on me. The cost was around £2100 fitted.

It's a bloody fantastic car - do it!
