Has anyone got any news other than what Google can tell me about a possible new Ferrari model priced around the £150k mark? There's a few mule pictures out there, but all speculative ?

I heard it was an on/off project due to concerns it would steal California sales

Having said that there is an argument for a smaller cheaper car to be a 540C competitor with the V6TT already seen in an Alfa

I've been wondering about this because of the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio's "Ferrari derived" V6. Ferrari don't currently have a V6 - anyone know what the derivation is then? 2 cylinders chopped off California T engine?

Its a V6 based on the F154 (V8 turbo from 488).

Ferrari have built the Maserati V6 for a while. When I did the factory tour a couple of years ago, I noticed V6 blocks being cast. I thought I had stumbled upon the Dino secret, then I remembered the Maserati thing

No way that car in the video is the new Dino - more like that 488 'special / scud / CS - or whatever name'

The car in the video is the 488 Speciale/Scuderia/Fandabidozi model added hybrid goodness/badness depending on how you see it.

The new Dino will use the Giula QF engine in broadly similar state of tune, but will be a 2-seater only so as to not eat into Cali sales. It'll also be slightly bigger and softer than the 488 as per McLaren 650S/570S.

You are already late, dealers have been taking deposits for months - check with your dealer.
Doesn't mean they are making it. wink

If that is true, it is very sad and it is certainly not a car I would want to own. It needs to be smaller, not bigger, than a 488 and certainly not as wide. Oh, and more beautiful. More like this, in fact:

if they use this engine it might well have a manual option......I hope

"The Quadrifoglio Verde’s twin-turbo 3.0-lite V6 engine is also a lightweight unit. It features cylinder deactivation and can, said Alfa, be "surprisingly fuel efficient" while still offering "fun and identity". Krief added that the Ferrari-developed unit offered "fantastic torque all through the rev range and no turbo lag in any gear". A 0-62mph time of 3.9sec has been quoted for this model, which is hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard"

In May "Marchionne downplayed the possibly of seeing a new Dino anytime soon. As he explained, the company hasn't "found answers" to a couple of key questions including how the Dino should be positioned, how much it should cost, and how it will be related to the next 488 GTB. The executive also suggested the company is debating how much power the model should have." (http://www.motor1.com/news/62498/marchionne-confirms-laferrari-spider-and-denies-new-dino/). In other words, it has barely got as far as the drawing board so far so you'll be waiting a while before you see one.

that does not sound good - would have hoped for lighter and smaller (as a base car for a small lightweight version), not the opposite. ah well ....

That's what I heard late last year from an old colleague in Turin, you never know things change rapidly with Marchionne!
