I come from a hot-rodding and custom car background where tires commonly had white tire writing. In fact my first hotrod I built back in 1979 still has its original BF Goodrich radials with white tire writing.

Anyway coming up to date tire writing seems to be back in fashion with Pirelli now offering a customisation service. Out of curiosity I have just been on to the Pirelli web site to see what was available and it appears you can now have whatever colour you like which is cool. Check out the website here:

http://shop.pirelli.com/gb_en/

The only down side is the cost, I specced up a set of P-Zero Corsa's for a McLaren 570s , for the four standard colours you are looking at £3320 for a set or £4340 for one of the custom colours

Is it just me or are these prices just a little silly and has anyone actually ordered a set?

Silly prices.

This would be a more cost effective route IMHO:-

can't select an FF ... too expensive for me anyway. Generally looks good though, just not sure I would spend that much more money (over the normal price) on tyres, which are replaced often

Looks a lot better than the pinstripes I saw on a recent Porsche GT3 press shot

And "never you mind" has gone into the pits and is coming out with the Ultra softs on... bold choice. That is what would be going through my head for a short period of time. smile

Shame they don't list the Gallardo. Wonder if they are the same size as the Hurracan.

Looks good to me. Better if available from new on car as that's when we tend to go silly on the options. Would be a logistical issue tho unless manufacturers offered a smaller range

The set for the Pagani are over £10kyikes who comes up with these prices and surely this works against Pirelli as they are unlikey to sell many sets at these prices, yes or no ???

I guess they realise it's likely to have limited appeal so they've gone with the stratospheric pricing in order to tempt that end of the market where people want to spend extravagantly on things that they know others won't be able to (or will want to) afford.

Stickered / coloured / whitewalled tyres look good in the sun in California... But not so cool on a grey Sunday in Basingstoke.

~£5k for a set of tyres with a sticker on is a bit of a rip.
