Ferrari Corso Pilota
Discussion
Hi
I'm doing the Corso Pilota Sport course at Fiorano in September - really looking forward to it, but at the same time a bit apprehensive.
I have a 488 GTB but no meaningful track experience. I'll definitely be taking part as a novice - but I want to make sure that I make the most of the course. Spending a couple of days at Fiorano in the 488 and 812 Superfast will no doubt be awesome - but perhaps a little intimidating.
Has anyone here taken the course? Any pointers, feedback, suggestions or comments much appreciated.

I did it last October. I can say that nothing beats Fiorana in a Monsoon rain in an F12
. Except perhaps Fiorano in an 812.
Don't worry, there are all sorts of ability levels represented. Just pay attention to the theory lessons as well as the pointers while you are driving, you'll have a blast. It's pretty well organised and you'll be given enough rope to hang yourself and then rescued as necessary. There is nothing at all to be apprehensive about. It might be no harm to do a couple of trackdays and get some lessons first so as to be able to get the most out of it. If you have no track experience at all then you may not make the best out of it as some of the basics which you might know already will take up the time. You want to be pushing your limits a bit (in someone else's supercar) and not learning basics. Don't take the 488 out on a trackday (yet anyway) even just buy or borrow a Suzuki Swift or anything really and get out there for a bit of experience. You will not need speed or power to enjoy and learn.
I'm thinking of going back for the next level Evoluzione? course later in the year.
It's a super experience. Lucky you. I'd even do it again.

Thanks - that's reassuring. I've had Ferraris for a number of years - and living on the Isle of Man haven't been shy of fast driving - but appreciate that driving on a track is a whole new world! I won't get the chance to do any track days before the course - but will take on board your point about paying attention!
I appreciate the feedback - and will try to post a review of the experience when I get back.

What's the costs involved to do one of these courses?
It depends on the level - you can find a list here:http://store.ferrari.com/events/en/driving-course/...
I went on it last month - EPIC!
Whilst you can just turn up (as many did) as a complete novice, I chose to book a 1/2 day with an instructor beforehand.
To be honest, whichever route you chose you'll learn tons and have a great time. The instructor's really get the most out of you.
You get split into smaller groups of 6/7 (which bears no resemblance to your ability) and have the same instructors for the 2x days. Our group got on so well that some of us are meeting up next week in London and then again at Silverstone for the Ferrari weekend later in the month. One of our instructor's is going to be there coaching in the FXX program and has promised us a look around! Can't wait!
You'll have a great time both on & off the track - Enjoy!

Thanks - sounds great! Hopefully I'll get the chance to take some pictures etc. and won't embarrass myself too much.Whilst you can just turn up (as many did) as a complete novice, I chose to book a 1/2 day with an instructor beforehand.
