Just looking now and seen a few supercars advertised as sold and its only when you read the advert you see at the bottom its SOLD.

Why keep advert up ? Obviously they want to increase their profile but it does distort the market too.

There should be a rule to limit adverts on various platforms saying sold.

So you then browse their other stick to see if they’ve got anything else you might be interested in

Extremely annoying. There are some performance car dealers that advertise 'x' amount of a certain marque yet when you get there 10 /15 are sold. If you know what car you want it's infuriating as you waste your time. How about "deposit taken" ? Just as annoying. Not as if you're going to watch the website like a hawk just to see if the deal goes through. And while we're here "£5000 EXTRAS!!!" No there's not you shifty fker those are all standard.

Regulation to stop car dealers spoofing the market ?!?! Chance would be a fine thing.

I'm guessing it's a cost thing? If the car is sold and the ad still has a few weeks to run then change the listing to sold and then edit it with new car details therefore saving the cost of a new ad.

More annoying is the dealers that advertise cars they don't have.

advertising sold cars :

  • gives the impression that the dealer is trusted and actually selling cars
  • exaggerates their footprint when in truth they only have a few cars for sale
  • gives the impression that a quiet market is moving and that you should grab that car whilst you can

There's a lot of cars on AT that either don't exist or have been sold judging by a few calls I've made recently. All of these so far have been non-showroom sellers, I guess it keeps them on AT and yes, I looked at the rest of their stock, so guilty me.

There’s a few dealers who do this and once their sold change the ads to ‘wanted’ or ‘looking for similar stock’ so it then becomes a wanted ad. Pretty clever but very annoying when you see the perfect car at a good price and then see SOLD MORE WANTED!

The problem is some traders re-advertise after the advert expires.
