I pulled up on to a pavement the other day (half on/half off) and I "cluncked" something on the underside not very hard.

Since then the car has developed a slight smell - quite acrid, similar to brake dust, which seems to come from the front end somewhere.

Does anyone know if there is anything on the underside of the 3200 that is prone to curbing that could cause this? I will probably get it checked out anyway.

Cheers.

Check your aircon - could be the coolant leaking out - smells similar to brake dust IMHO...

Hmm mine smelt a bit like that (and a bit like burning oil) when the rear seals went. You could smell it everytime you parked after alongish journey...I'd recommend taking the wheels off and having a look around for any suspicious leaks.

Hope it's nothing serious.

If it is the a/c leaking there may be coloured dye knocking about too, as most systems have some dye in to help detect leaks.

unfortunately the commonly used dye in the Maserati system is only detectable under UV light [so I was told] - so you probably won't spot a colour! (unless you've got a UV lamp!!!)

Thanks for the helpful suggestions but having done the check for leaks as suggested above I think I may have, erm, found the cause of the smell.

A John Lewis plastic bag that has got tangled around the centre section of the exhaust and has slowly melted. I'll get my coat
