I am thinking of buying a Urraco, but wondered what I should look out for, servicing costs etc. If anyone has any thoughts on this matter they would be very much appreciated.

IIRC the series of the urraco is very important - think you want to be looking at P300 cars..

There was a buyers guide in a mag recently (Autocar?) perhaps someone else will remember...

I remember these well . Avoid the 200 (Italian market 2 litre) and 250 (not very quick) and buy a 300 . make sure the sodium filled valves have been replaced with solid ones (most will have been by now) and watch out for rot and bodges . There`s always a few on Autotrader including a lovely red LHD at Jason Barkers and one at a garage in Nairn (near Inverness) thats up for just under £30k (somewhat optimistic I think) . Check you can live with the driving position as well as they were made for people of an Italian stature .

A good choice. I have always loved the Urraco. Such a great looking car and much rarer than the equivalent Ferrari.

I agree with much that has been said - the safest bet is a P300. These have cam chains as opposed to the P250 which had belts and was under-powered. I would advise getting in touch with Colin Clarke as he's very knowledgeable on these cars - I was there today and he had a P250 outside. He's also working on my Silhouette at present.

I would steer clear of the Jason Barker car - its not very original as far as I can see - non standard seats and wing mirrors for starters and he' had it for ages. The one in Scotland looks nice. The thing to look do with any car is to get an inspection by a specialist as a car can look nice but the hidden costs can be high. Although the car in Scotland is expensive at £30k, if it has all work done and has been used regularly it is good value IMHO.

Good luck

Thanks guys, I currently drive a Corvette C5 but like the look of the 1970's Lambo. I guess the Corvette 'bulit proof engine build' is not going to be replicated in the Urraco. Where can I find pics of the Scottish Urraco as only the £17995 one is on Autotrader?

Wasn't there a buyer's guide in Evo some time back, featuring a red car that Jason had in stock at the time? IIRC engine fragility cropped up a lot....

Don't even think about buying one of these without an inspection - especially viz. bodywork
