3200 GT - three questions
Discussion
Hi
3 questions if I may:
1) Is there a technical manual or suchlike available for the 3200GT?
I don't expect a Haynes manual of course, but I would like to have in my possession something more detailed than the Owner's Manual
2) How loud is the Tubi.
I'd like to get one fitted but I fear my neighbours may shoot me if I do. If it is loud only when you open the throttle then I may chance it.
3) What is the received view on dealing with the 'Check Engine' light
I drive different cars fairly regularly so there will inevitably be the odd time when I inadvertantly forget to allow the 3200 to perform its diagnostic checks before start-up. Does anyone on this forum use an OBD II diagonstic tool or suchlike to get greater granularity on a warning signal? Do people perform resets themselves or always visit the dealership for this? How often is the 'Check Engine' light something to genuinely worry about?
Mine comes on intermittently but rarely stays on for long - I'm pretty sure it's caused by my 'bad' starts, but maybe I should get it checked out nonetheless.
Thanks in advance for any help on the questions above, all comments welcome.

Not aware of one sorry! Only the workshop manual - how you'd get hold of a copy of that from MAserati I ahve no idea!

Best option is to come along ot a mett where someones got the tubi fitted and have a listen.

Usually, you can turn the ignition off and on again, an the light goes out - in whichcase nothing to worry about and no point bugging the dealer.
Search on here - there are various methods of doing a reset that should make it go out if you can't make it go away by turning off the ignition. In this case next stepo is to reset it. Various methods - i used to unclip the battery (don't forget your radio code!!!)...
If it's still lit when you've done the above, then it's time to go see the dealer with the diagnostic box.
I had this happen to me and couldn't reset them - meant new lambda sensors - not a cheap job! Diagnostics showed that the car was perfectly servicable with the light on - but it does weigh on your mind that without the warning light if something else went astray you'd not relaise it... and that could be collossally expensive...
If you contact Enrico on the following site he may be able to advise how to source a workshop manual:

To have a listen to a Tubi on a 3200 have a look here www.scuderiasystems.com/M-Media.htm
Sounds great to me but at £1700 for a pair of back boxes too rich for me.

If you want to listen to a 3200 fitted with a tubi you are welcome to listen to mine. Will be at the meet in VW next week all being well-otherwise i'm on the Surrey/Berkshire border if you fancy a run.Great noise but not intrusive.Loud on startup(choke on)but neighbours don't complain-yet!

cheers all for the replies
can't make the VW meet unfortunately, but will try and catch you guys with tubis for a listen at a later juncture.
Going to buy an OBDII scan tool, they are pretty cheap and probably the easiest and neatest way to perform ECU resets and check diagnostic codes (I'm not a maverick by the way, it's just there is no Maserati dealership anywhere near where I live).
I have a friend who services 3200GTs (very handy), I'll see if he has a workshop manual or equivalent if I get no joy from the above link.

My offical workshop manuals were obtained from Maranello UK (Maserati parts dept) summer 2004 and come in 3 volumes:
Engine - Part no. 920000291
Vehicle - Part no. 920000292
Electrical - Part no. 920000295
I also have the Parts manual but know this is no longer available in hard copy - CD may still be and but will also require a dongle. If the above manuals are no longer available, try Eurospares who can usually source out of print material.
