New Miura on the way?
Lambo plans old cars on new chassis
Rumours suggest that Lamborghini is to produce a new, Enzo-baiting Miura, derived from Audi's mid-engined Le Mans car with a 6.5-litre V12, a bigger displacement than the racing car's motor, and delivering 700bhp. It could even be here next year.
And could Lamborghini be planning an SUV? Porsche has done it, and Lambo started with tractors so it would hardly be a new departure. According the same report, an SUV, code-named LM00X, will be an all-new, high-performance version of the upcoming Audi Q5. It will get two engines: a supercharged, 4.2-litre with 400bhp and a punchier, supercharged 5.0-litre V10 pushing out 500bhp. Expect the car in 2008. Why do they do this...?
There's also confirmation for the future Espada, as reported on PistonHeads in June (see link below).

A new Miura? sounds good, but to wake an old legendary car like that take's some guts... like to see what they come up with! hopefully a "modern" classic look! and lets hope they will not make the car to heavy!! make it more a sportcar and not like most do a GT like with to much extra's and more heavy weigth things on board...make it leigth please... and do some proper backleigths...make them round!! 3 on each side, thats what I like.

Not quite sure where Miura fits in TBH.
I mean why resurrect the old name? They already have the Murcielago as a super car, they have never needed to repeat a name before, they can't be out of ideas surely? Just give the Murcielago the full beans motor as in the GTR version and leave it as a hyper car. What they should be making is a FR GT car like the old 350GT and 400GT 2+2, a FR V12 powered monster in the GT class to take on the DB9/F550 etc. Base it on the new Espada and you've got 2 cars for the development price of slightly more than 1. They will then have F550 and 612 competitiors to go head to head with the old enemy Ferrari
Also I dont have much problem with a Lamborghini SUV, if anything they invented the category with the LM002, I presume the new one will be called the LM003
?
The only disappointment is that it will more likely be a souped up soft roader rather than its butch, hummeresque predecessor
. Lamborghini should do what it does best and extreme nutter mobile that makes everyone go, wow! Leave the conservative stuff to Audi.
BTW what a nightmare for the owners to work out, If Porsche and VW who seem to part own each other have jointly developed the Toureg and Cayenne, then Audi and Lambo are developing something similar aren't they somewhat competing with themselves? Or will these two just be another derivative of the Toureg?
Very confusing

Is the idea to use the existing panel owrk or do this on OLD existing cars? Can't see current owner wanting or even being in the same dosh league to be able to afford this or even want to.
Th Aerodynamics of the muira were Bloody Dangerous - so would need modding somewhat.
But hay it woul be a laugh!!!!!!!!!

Mmmm, VW group yet again competing with itself. I'd buy a tank rather than a Lambo off roader, even if the LMOO2 looked horn (if you were from Brunei). Stupid, I'm actually getting sick of this whole proliferation of supercars coming from the same company. Give them the green light and Lamborghini will have a vaster model range than Vauxhall. Here's what should be:
Gallardo (Mini supercar league - takes on high end 911's, and the Ferrari 430)
Murcielago (This one vs the Enzo, Carrera GT, Mclaren etc)
Espada (Takes on the 575 and 612, and Upcoming Porsche Panamera (which looks absolutely the best thing I've ever seen))
That's all you need in a small market.
Ali.

it's a pity that each new lambo seems to be a Lambo version of an Audi.
I agree. Make something original, they've always seemed pretty good at it before.
I think the Miura could be beautiful if they stick to something vaguely resembling the original, but updated a bit (no doubt some pretty harsh lines looking at current Lambos). The engine sounds pretty exciting.
Bring it on!
(and for the love of God, don't build an SUV. Please. Do it for me! Porsche have gone down so far in my estimations after the Cayenne, don't sully a good name with a Footballer's wife wagon)

Original-yes, Special-yes, Fuctional-? Before Audi the lambos of course had their originality, but they didn't have good build quality, or ergonomic driving positions (pedal boxes not centred etc).
It is a personal decision, but I would rather have a Lambo by Audi for the sake of a supercar that you can live with.
And the SUV - been there done that
sounds fine to me - if they want to build another mad car, then I love it ! If it looks a bit like a Miura, even better .....
imho the recent ressurection jobs have been excellent ..... Ford GT, Maser Birdcage, Lancia Stratos - all brilliant, let's have more of that....
Something like the Miura is so classic, so awesome that you can't dilute it....
as far as an SUV .... it's gonna have 2 engines ...cool, I'd have one !
