3200 check engine light.

How p****d off am I !
I have been using my second car for a while due to road salt/weather etc, thought I had better take the Maser out to keep things turning over and lubricated. The weather today was fine and dry so down to get a paper, jump in and remember to let all the systems go through the checks before firing her up. Fine no probs, come out the shop jumped in and yes you've guessed it! So used to jumping in the second car now and not giving a second thought that I spun her up straight away. Result = check engine light. I know, I know what a prat but its too late now!
I have tried all the usual, diconect the battery for 1/2 hour, lock and unlock by remote fob, etc to no avail. There are no code numbers coming up by the outside temp lcd.
I find it hard to believe that starting straight away can knock out any sensors and I am sure that this problem has been posted before but I cant seem to find the reset info on here, can anyone point me in the right direction?
I seem to recall that "Nigelo" new the solution and it could be DIYed rather than sending it to the main agents for what is probably a 15min job.
All tips and pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks. 3200gt

I think you may be confusing the fix/reset for an oversensitive throttle. Starting without allowing the self-test to complete can cause temporary sensor problems but these are normally cured by a simple stop and restart having allowed the self-test to complete.
The only other things that come to mind are (a) a lambda sensor has sooted up due to the short run (b) engine earthing resistance probs (c) a partly charged battery - low volts can upset the electronics.

Had this one happen, my car had been sat for a few weeks and battery gone flat. Once i got the battery 3/4 charges. Light was still on. After a drive and a night on a trickle feeder then light had gone off. Cars perfect again

wicked1, thanks, seat reset works a treat. Dont forget to mail me your co details and cam belt service quote, also the discs and pad quote.
Chris crossley, She's on charge now, see how she feels tommorrow. If it just a battery charge required I will be most happy! I'll let you know.
Thanks, gents.
