Jump Start A 3200GT

I am new to the site and have been reading through old posts. In one of them somone talked about jump starting a 3200GT. This is a complete no no. Doing so could damage the ECU. The best way to sort a flat battery is to trickle charge it (disconnected) overnight.

On any 3200Gt and all 4200Gt you can trickle charge the battery when you switch off the car by the actual isolator switch fitted on the o/s/r boot panel attached to the wheel arch, it is a big round knob and can be stiff to use at first. I think they were fitted from 2000 onwards. It basically stops the battery going flat in the first place and shuts the car down.

You can jump start them. I'm positive it tells you how to do so in the owner's manual.

Sure does.

1 connect live to live.
2 connect negative to negative.
3 start engine.
4 disconnect negative.
5 disconnect live.

So, just the same as any other car then!

I think what they're getting at is not to attach another car / jump start device that could surge through the electronics, whereas anther battery wouldn't

Don't disagree with the last 3 posts and just to add my two cents - If you are using a CTEK battery conditioner/charger or its equivalent, you do NOT need to disconnect or isolate the battery. The CTEK is made to be used for extended periods WITH the battery left connected.
