Have never really had much to do with any older Ferraris, other than some of the classic V12s.

Had a chance the other day to drive a 1975 308 GT4 which the guy was trying to sell.

What a great little car these are. Very underestimated.

£12k would have bought it. It was a nice up together car with a really sweet engine and gearbox.

Come on all you GT4 owners, lets hear your praises and see your pix.

I'm not an owner (nor have I ever driven one) but I'm a big fan. The styling is like a fine wine in that evry year it gets better and better and in my humble opinion is very underrated and undervalued.

Shhhhhh.................don't tell anyone though!

It's got a horrible non-Pininfarina body, is completely undesireable and deservedly so. Angular, wedgie and yuck.

until I get one for myself, that is! loverrrly things...

Lovely car, definitely on my "own before you die" list. GTB's are just too in your face for my liking. Looks best in steely metallic colours with the GTB wheels. Red doesn't suit it.

Don't mind red or dark blue myself. I'd quite like one and a fibreglass 308 GTB, thanks.

Just tuned into this site, so greetings all.

GT4 is a great car, with lots of personality. Managed to buy one for my 21st, and lots of excitment ensued.
(Would post some track pics but seems you can't paste photos in here without a website).
PS. Try to buy the best you can afford as I did (upto £20K). A bad one will cost you more in the long run, and will sit on ramps.
Enjoy

Aaaah, what enlightened comments!
You won't go far wrong with a well sorted GT4. Glorious carb engine, a lot roomier and with a nicer dash than a GTB, best handling of the 308's and best of all affordable! Us owners get light hearted stick from the more well heeled Ferrari crowd who tell us that they are not Ferraris, but Dinos. Of course they are technically correct but I think that just makes them more distinctive.

Buy wisely and enjoy...

My dads got had a gt4 for years, many a childhood sunday spent in the backseat, getting driven around in it, can't fit in the back nowadays though! Its got a few subtle mods such as suspension and wheels/tyres, he does the occasional sprint/hillclimb in it. I love it, and anyone who dismisses them on the grounds of not being a "proper" ferrari or not looking like a ferrari should look just needs to have a go in one, can't wait til I'm allowed a drive of dads!

The 308TG4 was the first Ferrari I ever saw -
a totally clapped out and rusting red one
(with painted yellow sills) that sat for years outside
a house in Belfast's delapidated student land.
Only found out recently that it's a Marcello Gandini
design. No wonder I loved it!

the first Ferrari i ever sat in was a GT4. felt very claustrophobic inside and there was next no knee room. apart from that i thought it was a nice little fezza.

I think the 308 GT4 is a gorgeous looking little car and one of the few Ferraris I would ever consider owning personally : I'm one of those very rare people who doesn't like most Ferraris and finds many of them quite ugly, particularly later ones - and especially next to any Lamborghini (come on Camelot, surely it should be me this week? ). GT4 though - lovely.

This thread certainly brings back some fond memories of chasing Roy Watts round Goodwood in the early 80's with both our GT4s having what FOC's John Swift christened as "cauliflower ears" (Aluminium scoop to enlarge the oil cooler duct to keep the oil temp under control and held on with ducktape!!). Super car with incredible handling and grip especially when fitted with the slicks we used at the time.

There were some that sneered at the tipo even back in those days but frankly that was their loss. If you have the chance "to scatch that itch" go for it.
