Over 5 years I have tried,
Pirelli's (wore out a set of backs in 6k miles. Good grip but soft as hell!)
Michelin's (backs lasted about 10k, but a bit dicey in the damn/wet)
Bridgestone's (again softish but not bad 8k on the backs)
but best I have found are so far
Toyo proxes (softish, decent lifespan, 8k so far and little under half worn, very grippy, an attractive tread pattern, and not too bad £'s)
I always change all four together so a bit of longevity is important to me.
Anyone tried anything else?, I would be interested to hear your comments.

They still look good which is surprising but then again I drive like a girl
I got a full set of Toyos and had them aligned at the same time. I have a guy who does our tyres so I'll call in on Tues to find out how many miles he thinks is left and I'll post his thoughts. I left the choice of tyres to him and he has never let us down so far.

He said very slight uneven wear on the passenger front tyre but I'll get them to align when they change the tyres next. The other tyres were "unmarked". I guess you guys must drive a bit harder than me!
My drive is approx 80 miles a day, slow and twisty for 10 miles then fast and straight for 20 miles and then 10 miles slowish and the same to come home. ASR has only kicked in a couple of times and I have learnt where to be gentle. I never leave the car for longer than a day or two without being driven or she can get huffy for the first few miles.

He fitted the tyres new and knows how many miles I have done on them so far. My driving style is always the same so based on this he has given a prediction as to how many miles are left, he wants to look again after 5k just to check.
We check the tyres are legal and undamaged daily. I went to see him this time only to give you guys an idea of longevity of these tyres in miles.

I did 20k in the first 12 months of owning it, and as you say loved every mile.
Then changed office to north London and wasn't happy with the security of parking so bought a daily user for work. The Masser only comes out on (sunny) week ends now.
Cambelt from main dealer will be £650 + vat. Then say another £500 for the service consumables element. It shouldn't be more than £1200 + vat, unless anything else comes to light during the service. My main dealer, Lancaster Colchester charge £95 per hour for labour. You could have gone to specialist and saved a few bob if you have a decent one in your area but I feel happier with Main agents should anything go awry as a result of defective parts/workmanship. Additionally I know it will come back in a covered lorry and it won't need immediate cleaning.

Nothing came up at the service, they even said the cam was in good condition but changed it as it was due.
My parking is just outside my window (can't see the car as the window is blacked out) but I can hear everything people say about it - the best two have been "Look it's an Aston" and my favourite "It's a Mazerti, I wonder who makes that". I bet you look forward to the Weekend!

What and wear out my tyre's!!! God forbid, no.
Yeah its amazing how Joe public react to them. I have learnt to always park with the arse end outwards so that people don't hang over the boot to read the make and scratch the paintwork up. Exactly what happened first weekend I got it, thanks mate! Neddless to say
no volunteers for recompense.

Having driven a few of these cars with a varied tyre combination. Michelins are the best all rounder but come at a price, Pirelli's are hopeless in the wet and are abit noisey, Toyo are good price and last really well and i find Bridgstones very soft and don't last five minutes. So if it is down to cost the Toyo's win but if cost is not any issue i think Michelins is the best about.
I will probably go for the Toyo. Another niggle at the moment is that the pilots seem very sticky and pick up grit. I can hear it coming off and hitting under the wheel arches. Did a full zymol at the weekend and noticed a some wear from stones around the bottom of the body to the rear of the wheels. Damn annoying. They are not chips but just make the surface a bit rough. Anyone else had this problem?
adac just published new tyre test, but they didn't test the toyo...

Hurrah, at last I have somthing in common with some of you Maserati boys! I swapped to Toyo Proxes on my 300ZX and think they're great. I've done 10k on the rears and there's still plenty of tread, the price is good, dry grip is terrific, although wet grip isn't so good. That last item can be a problem with 280bhp, RWD, an auto gearbox and no traction control.....other than my right foot
They also have a very sexy tread pattern. Which is a very sad thing to write and I really should get a life
