Wheel bolts

I'm Looking to buy some new wheel bolts for my Maserati, as some are starting to rust.

I've found a company online called Hill Engineering who manufacture Maserati and Ferrari wheel bolts at what look like pretty competative prices.

Anybody have any experience with their product/service??

Paul Hill and Hill Engineering have a fantastic reputation amongst the Ferrari community. Gearknobs, alloy pedals, wheel bolts and much, much more are all excellent quality. You won't be disappointed. I have his wheel bolts on my Ferarri 400 and they are superb.

Hill engineering are well known in Ferrari circles for great service and products, I've no connection and haven't dealt with them but many on Fchat/Fcars have

I had mine replaced by Lancaster in Colchester when they refurbed my wheels free of charge - they should have cost £3.50 each, but Lancaster kinldy threw them in as well. they look excellent......

Suggest you call Eurospares (in Halstead) on 01787 477169 or 01787 473678 and ask for Keith - they do spare parts for Ferrari, Maserati and Lambo - went there last week and was given an extremely interesting look around their three 'units' on the Bluebridge Estate in Halstead - he'll sort you out...

I priced up some bolts for my 328. Hill Engineering sell them for about £9.50 each.

I'm sure they are excellent, but I was too tight to pay that.

I had the original ones stripped, polished and rechromed. It worked out at about £4.00 a bolt. The job was absolutely excellent.

They were turned round in just under a week.

The only catch is that you can't use the car while the job is being done......

Sounds good, though some bolts apparently can be beyond refurbing. I had wheel refurbs done on my 3200GT recently, but they couldn't refurb the bolts.

Good that we have a thread on this subject, rusting wheel bolts seem to be a common problem.

Now does anyone know about refurbing a tarnished trident?

They usually rust quickly because people (including some pro mechanics) use a standard socket that instantly chips off the edge of the chrome/nickel - a month or so later they look rubbish. I made a socket that only works on the lower portion of the bolt flats that does not chip the chrome. Hill Engineering now offer a special socket for the job.

You can get them on ebay fairly cheaply and then what I did was kept the new ebay one for best and got the tarnished one sprayed to match body colour, Maserati red in my case, just as the original racing Tridents where! ( I also have a stainless grille which makes it stand out against the silver just as the chrome Trident stood out against the original black grille.)
