How much for a 550 ???
Discussion
I've just seen an advert on bloomberg for a 1998 550 .
Now it's only done 9500 miles , which could start the whole "if you have it, why don't you drive" argument again, but the guy's asking 70,000 for it. That seems very steep to me, given that you can pick up a 03 575 for about 10k more.
Am I missing something or are they just hoping to appeal to collectors ?

£70K seems a bit optimistic to me. Okay, it's low mileage, but there isn't the demand for the 550 that there used to be. It's been replaced by the 575 (twice) and now the 599 is about to be released, making it a 3 times redundant model. Front engined Fezzas depreciate like a stone (4 seaters are by far the worst)remember.
The 550 is a brilliant car, actually slightly better than the first itteration of the 575.
If it's sweet, I'd haggle. £70K is a bit rich (even with an extended warranty) and if you're not going to keep it (why wouldn't you though?) you'll lose money. If you intend to keep it the eventual purchase price isn't as important as condition, spec, etc.
It's a 'buyers market' on this one and don't let anyone tell you differently.
Good luck.

No 550 is worth 70 (ok well if it's a barchetta...)

You could buy a 98 550 , albeit with more miles for 45k

Sounds far too expensive to me
I bought a 15k late 2001 with every single factory option (shields,GT shelf fire extinguisher, yellow calipers, sports exhaust etc...)and it was mint for 67 last december. Colleague bought a 10k miler 2002 for 70k and that was mint - tell them to stuff it ....it will not sell...there are those in the market that never understand the difference between what they want for something adn market value - tht is a 55k car at the very very best.....IMHO
