interested in finding out if any of you lambo boys know why they fit this e gear thing to lambos rather than dsg... just bought a golf gti with dsg and i am so mightily impressed with it. my understanding (could be wrong) is that e gear is not terribly good.

Too heavy is the answer! The DSG added 70 kilos to the Audi TT when it was first introduced. So much so that the 3.2v6 TT only puts out 250bhp. That is too much extra weight for a supercar to carry.
I do agree though that the DSG is the dogs wotsits but i preferred the paddles on the TT to the buttons i think they use on the Golf for some reason. Correct me if i'm wrong here.
cheers,
DSGv6

DSGV6 is right. The DSG system is very heavy and though it's fine for a small amount of power (200-300hp), once you get to 500 odd the thing is going to be the size of a washing machine. The Veyron's gearbox is a work of art but is still a fair sized thing. A more commercially priced system would probably be disproportionately larger.
