New replacement discs for my Murcie..
Discussion
Just thought I'd let you Murcielago owners know, I have just taken delivery of a beautifully machined set of grooved replacement discs for my Murcie from Tarox UK/Italy.
The standard drilled Lambo (Brembo) originals are over £4000 a set, and crack badly with heavy use. As Brembo won't supply direct, I asked Tarox to machine a new set from one of the originals. They've just arrived back from Italy and are a work of art. Cost was £1450 for the full set of front/rears so a £2650 saving.
Only good for Murcies with the crap brakes though (ie 02-04 MY.) The later ones have the much better Gallardo setup.

Well done, Si.
Now if someone can talk with a clutch manufacturer, two of any supercar's achilles heels will have been addressed.
Incidentally, the new Audi RS4 has the same front brakes as the Gallardo. A visit to your local Audi dealer will reveal that discs and pads can be had for LESS than the price of that quoted by a franchise dealer (it's not their fault, they're bound by contract). Carbon Ceramic discs can be had for half price.

You know a part is at a stupid price when you can have a one-off custom machined for a third of the cost.
Indeedy. Early Diablos have the same discs as a 7 series Beemer. But at the time no one knew this and paid top dollar for OEM parts.
The trouble with the newer cars is that it is still early days to find out all the little secrets. But we're getting there.

Thanks. Speak to Steve at Tarox on 08707772727. Incidentally if anyone has a Gallardo F/R disc to lend them they will do the same thing with them.
Mike - The clutch plate isn't too bad at £350. Its the flywheel at £2k which is a joke.

Hi Simon
If Mike Pullen can do both clutch+flywheel+labour for circa £2300 there must be another source ?

Now there's a thought. Thing is with 2 tech boys doing the work it must take say 16/18 hrs for the engine in and out. If he only charges £50 labour an hour thats say a grand. So he must be getting the bits for £1200/£1300.So the flywheel must come off something else too then

It depends if you use them on the track..with them being scored and not drilled mine have very slightly warped, but for mainly road use they are fine.
At least they don't crack like original equipment drilled ones did. And a lot cheaper.
