FERRARI REPLICAS
Discussion
Has anyone noticed, just how many replica Ferraris are around?
Just type Ferrari into E-Bay and see how many of them are kit cars and MR2 based clones!
Personally, I just can not see the point in spending so much money on a bodged up MR2 with a 355 "lookalike" (I try not to laugh, when I say that) bits bolted on.
Don't get me wrong. I am not going to "humbug" all replicas. Some of those Cobra replicas are really good, and the GT40 ones are too. Probably because the proportions are all "spot on".
I have yet to see a 355 replica that doesn't look like it has had 12 inches cut out of the wheelbase.
That Diablo replica (lime green) that turned up at the Brooklands/Brighton Lambo bash a few months ago, sure fooled a few.
What is the general consensus here?

The MR2 based ones do not have the proportions right for the bonnet so they just look 'not quite right' when you look at them, also chances are they dont change the disks so you see this 355 with tiny disks, the 355 never had a high cente console between the seats like the MR2 and of course when the guy turns the key it does not sound like a flat plane V8, all in all a complete waste of effort IMO.
i've noticed a particularly bad 355 replica in my town recently, i don't know why these people bother it looks so badly out of proportion and the wheels/panels are all naff.
i saw the 360 replica too, must say it did look pretty good from the front and side but the lack of exhausts at the back gives the game away, i heard that the engine was the Peugeot 3.0 litre diesel so they'd have to exit downwards anyway!

I'm just tired of people asking me if mine is real.
There's too many replicas in east london for my liking. Although all of them are fake 355's.
There are even replica 360 spiders and coupes now as well.

It was the 360 bodykit based on a 406 coupe that got me chuckling!

The exterior's actually ok but the inside is crap
there is a guy near where i live with a 355 mr2 and it looks pathetic
the 360 one looks pretty alright
my friend had a chavved up mazda 323f, one drunken day we removed the badges and stuck porsche ones on it, we drove to uni, and all the girls thought we had a porsche
a lot of people dont know about cars at all, and its these people the fakesters are trying to impress

Somebody, maybe Robin Hood Sportscars, does a 360 Spider replica too based on a Mk3 MR2.
I think this is the link but I can't view it at the minute:
