3200GT 00/01 Model Year
Discussion
No, that's not correct at all. Several production mods were made since the very early cars so that by mid to late 2000 (X reg in the UK at approx chassis no 2800) all significant items had been incorporated. To my knowledge, none included issues connected with handling. However, there is of course the special edition Asseto Corsa which did have a different suspension setup.
That said, there were many built throughout the production without the electronic "Active Ride" (aka Skyhook) suspension. These are easily distinguished by observing the lack of actuators at the top of the shock absorbers and the absence of the "Sport" button on cars equipped with manual gear box.
Hope this helps

... There is talk of better build quality however as Ferrari took more control over quality in the latter years..
Yes Andy, I have heard the same rumours myself but they are misguided. In fact, the 3200 although a true Maserati design from top to bottom, was entirely under Ferrari control from Day 1 in 1998 when they put it into production. Indeed, as with many Ferrari models, they gradually improved during the production run
Hope this helps

Nigelo is correct, A few components proved to be a little unreliable on the 98 models but they where soon detected and changed for better items. Other than that the 32 was pretty much unaltered for its entire life.
There is one obvious difference between early and latter cars, for example the later cars have two valves infront of the cambelt covers, they are there for emission reasons. The latter cars had different wiring harnesses (nothing noticeable). I think as has already been said the differences are only minor and they don't really make any difference to essence of a 3200GT (excluding Assetto Corsa, of course).
