Hi chaps

I remember watching the review of the gallardo spyder on top gear recently, and am now in the market for a 2nd hand gallardo.

Is the lifting functioning that they showed on the spyder available on all cars or only the latest generation?

Also has the additional warranty issue been solved? can it be purchased now?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Its a waste of time shout, bar ferry crossing but don't do it! + only available on 06 model onwards.

Gallardo goes over any speed hump i've ever been over...just drop your speed to snail pace & you'll be fine....convinced it changes the handling for the worse anyway + me thinks adds weight to the front end.

Apart from the one on the entrance into Houx annexe, which I've grounded out over several times even at a snails pace!

It was an option on all cars from day one for about 2K i think. you may be lucky and get a car with one fitted if you shop around. I found it usefull when mark came over to my house from Lambo Manch in an 06 Model. It lifts the front about 40mm.
As for the extended warranty its still an unresolved item. i had another moan to Mark about this last week but nothing seems to be forthcoming at Present.

Andy.

I'll measure it tonight and let you know. One thing that surprised me though was how much lower the Gallardo is compared to a 360. I've been out several times with mates in their 360's and where I struggle over bumps (Houx annexe entrance for instance) they sail over with no issues. surpising eh?

It’s not just the height that you need; it’s got more to do with the incline of the road approaching the hump

I’ve never had any problems with speed bumps, yet on my old drive I could bottom out on a very small hump because it was located on a shallow incline

Lift system came in on 06 model, I wish I had it on mine, I know of many places where my 4200 grounded out that I just don't dare go in the G, finding a multi story car pack without a steep entrance is hard - anyone know a good place to park in manchester? Under Selfridges is OK, just very tight getting around the first corner....

i used to take my old 360 spider down to monaco to see friends & everytime i went i grounded it slightly in some of the underground car parks. (i'm sure many of you have seen the TOP GEAR episode where they did the same in a zonda, ford gt & f430 spider) so when i decided on a gallardo spyder the lifting mechanism was a welcome addition.

Just measured it. the gallardo has a 25mm aluminium rub strip under the front bumper which saves the bumper when you it anything i guess. To the lowest point of the aluminium rub strip its 85mm.

Hope this helps

Andy.

Correct, i agree .

+

As already stated read you won't find anything pre-06 MY with lifting aid cause you couldn't order it so wouldn't spend that long deliberating! rolleyes

Make sure you get a late 04 car onwards (giveaway the lambo logo on the steering wheel Ps just embossed not the actual badge suggest 05-) & E Gear.

Just dug out the 2004 Gallardo options list and whats on there ......

Lifting system at £1,617.02 + VAT

So it was available on all UK cars AS AN OPTION. wether there were many takers, I don't know.

Maybe it was only available in the midlands?

newish car park at the tram terminus near printworks. Best in town in my opinion. Sad i know but i looked for ages for a car park that wasn't too steep.

Thanks for your help Andy and others! so is the lifting system standard on the 06 models? or still an option? Don't suppose anyone on here lives in or near Guildford and fancies sizing it up on my drive do they?
