hi folks
if you have a 3200gt and do not have the red key (apart from needing a new spare key made) are there any potential issues? i.e. if battery dies, will the car need the red key to start, can engine diagnostics be performed without it, can it be serviced, etc?
cheers

As far as I know, if you lost both sets of keys, you can order a new set but you will need the red key to link the new keys to the car's alarm and immobiliser system.

yeah, read the archives, lots of info on the ecu and locks needing changed and huge costs. just wondering if apart from losing the main key is there any other issue with not having the red one.

you never get asked for the red key at service time so i guess its only relevant to the ordering of spares. tho im sure one of the experts on here will chip in if theres any other use for it

Reading some of the post on here you would think no Red Key was the end of the world.
Certainly not needed for a flat battery or battery changeout or for servicing work. I know, I've done the aforementioned and don't have one.
