Okay, the scenario is that I have a lifetime opportunity to purchase a mental bonkers car that will put me in hock for the rest of my natural, postpone the new kitchen I was looking forward to, the exotic holidays, the new wardrobes (as my clothes are still hanging on cheapo Argos racks!) and enforce the sale of my beloved Countach to partway finance the change.

This is a real head vs heart decision. My head is saying 'don't be silly, you could buy a house for that sort of money, and you will have to sell the CT.' My heart is saying 'but these things come on the market very rarely, and if you want a UK spec car, there are only 4 in the country in the first place.'

I'm not going to say what the car in question is (just yet) in case it somehow jinxes everything, but what am I supposed to do? confused

If it's a Diablo GT in Orange then you'd be mad to buy it. Let me buy it instead

You've already got an orange Diablo, why would you want another one?? laugh

Anyway, as far as I know, there is only one orange GT in this country which makes it almost as rare as rocking horse poop. yes

Since when did a new kitchen, wardrobes, or an exotic holiday give you the 'yes' feeling?? You know what needs to be done, not that I wish to be an influence....DO IT. yes

lambochick I have been going through the same agony myself lately. If the car is up north then buy it and put me out of my misery.

I heard a rumour of a very special Diablo coming on the market soon also.

IF you are single buy it and i am sure it will help you find a partner but if you have a partner dont buy it as its a mans car or a single ladys car

Everybody reckoned the Countach was a man's car, but I haven't had any problems with that!

Life is short and I reckon it's about minimising regrets......

DO IT.
Can't afford it later....? Sell it. The memories will be well worth it.

P.S. If it's a Diablo GT then doubly do it! What an AWESOME car!

Lambochick your story sounds familiar to me. My advice to you is buy it. If you are willing to sell your much loved Countach to finance the Diablo (or mystery car) then it sounds like you have already made a decision.

My major concern when I bought my Diablo is what my parents would say about it. Even though I am in my 30`s they would go mad at me spending my money on a car rather than a house. So I have not told them. I have owned the car since January. They are going to go mental if they find out.

Hopefully see you at Auto Italia 24th September ?

Your dilemma sounds remarkably similar to that of another anonymous "Lambo chick" I know: www.auto-journals.com

Its funny what somebody said about not telling their parents about buying their car!

I thought it was just me but when I swapped my last car I got the same colour and didnt tell them!

I have just about decided against getting a Diablo (after losing some sleep). After having read th online journal www.auto-journals.com/s2/content/diablovt1.html though I am rethinking!

I thought I was being mad spending my hard earned money but this girl has balls!

"...life is just too short..."

So I would say: test-drive it, check on the maintainance costs (something to factor-in before any exotic car buy, as you surely know...) and if everything adds-up, go for it.
