I locked the car today with the remote to set the alarm.
Came back several hours later and the remote won't open the doors. I assumed a flat battery in the remote as it's been harder and harder to get it to lock recently.

Anyway, i've replaced the battery and still no success so i'm wondering if i need to 'sync' the fob/remote to the system? Anyone with any clues/suggestions please let me know as the car is currently in a location i'd rather not leave it in for longer than a night!
Thanks

Have you tried pressing it near the passenger side (bottom corner of the windscreen)? I've heard this can help.

Also, you may have a wire loose somewhere. Mine's been playing silly buggers of late and it turns out it's one of the connectors behind the leather panel behind the driver's seat. Will get it rewired when I get half a chance. Meanwhile, waggling the wire sorts it.

You could also try isolating the battery for a few hours (overnight to save downtime) and seeing what happens (knob for this is under the removable carpeted panel, driver's side wing (in the boot). Note that when you switch the car back on you should let it idle for 10mins or so without touching the controls...

Are you by any chance in a black area, some times my 355 and range rovers alarm fob wont work in certain areas due to emergency services or mobile phone masts. Some times its been known for me to roll the car a little to regain the singal. Or does it do it in all areas?

Sounds like a faulty siren to me. Had exactly the same problem on my 360 recently and had to replace it.

Siren is a little black box powered by two batteries soldered to a PCB. It is a sealed unit unfortunately so you can't just replace the batteries. New ones can be had for £180 from Eurospares. I managed to get a used one from them for £80 + vat. Needless to say, Ferrari will charge a lot more.

cheers,

re the siren, mine went wrong and verdi somehow replaced the batteries. I guess they unseal the sealed unit...worth giving them a call.
If there was something wrong with the unit tho, if i recall right then the led on the dash should be on permanently rather than flashing.
I presume you have tried spare fob and the key fob's red light is coming on with the new battery - the contacts arent great, ended up sticking a slither of paper in mine.

is the battery in the car ok? soon find out by opening the door manually and seeing if the other door unlocks. obviously if you open the door the alarm should go off and thats a bit noisy

When my siren went the red light went out completely. My first thoughts were that the battery was dead but all my electrics (alarm apart!) were fine.

Verdi's is a good shout for a once over that's for sure.

As noted the LED goes on all the time (even when disarmed) if the siren's shagged on a 355.

Agreed, the red led lights up permanently to warn of a siren problem. Eventually though it will go out completely when the siren has had it. This happened to mine. When i removed the siren to replace i cracked it open to have a look and the batteries had leaked acid all over the PCB.

Ok, the saga continues!
Managed to get a new battery for the key fob remote and replaced it. However it still won't switch the alarm off or the imobiliser.
I'm guessing it's because it needs re sync'd with the system? Anyone know the sequence of events you need to go through to do this?

The red light on the dash is flashing normally if that helps and i can open the doors with the key but every time i do the bloody alarm goes off!

Help please as the main dealer were next to useless over the phone!
Thanks

Didn't you change the battery on Saturday Alastair? (Post 1).

Have you tried the other suggestions above?

yes but it was not the correct one and today the correct one turned up and still no luck.
Tried all the suggestions-thanks for all the help much appreciated.
I called Carl @ Verdi today who was really helpful who needed to who which type of alarm it was. I've stripped the bonnet 'carpets' out so know now and will need to call him tomorrow-just thought one of you guys might be able to help me solve it this evening.

Sorry Alastair, can't think of anything else other than that mentioned above.

But as you're calling the Oracle, I'm sure you'll get it fixed soon.
