Drove through Pangbourne yesterday, did a U turn and went back and gawped at the Spyker and Konegthinggywotsit.

So thinking about my next car, ultimate aim (based on hugely falling residuals and a warranty being available, neither of which may ever happen) was the Gallardo spyder. Now my love for something a little quirky and exotic (hence masers instead of porkers or M3s) has got me looking at the Spyker.

Now then folks, does anyone know anything about them? Used prices, do the rag tops come with a roof? serviceability etc or is it the case that if I have to ask I can't afford it. I am looking a couple of years down the line from now just like to have a plan in place.

Not overly keen on the basic shape of the Spyker, but the detailing is superb. The Audi V8 sounds fabulous too cloud9

Saw the interiors at the Geneva Show in a variety of colours - lemon yellow, mint green, red and god knows what else. Incredible. You could literally sit in and stare at it all day without moving.

It raises an interesting point - were Lamborghini going to do a SUV (can anyone remember the LM002?) then the Stryker Paris to Peking D12 SUV should show them a trick or two.

Saw P2P D12 make its debut in Geneva last March. Opulence of interior incredible and rear suicide doors as well.

DAve - probably best getting in touch with teh factory - or the agents in pangbourne - doubt many of them change hands privately - guess there aren't that many out there to choose from anyway....

Having spoken to the factory myself a few times, I can give you any information that you may require...

There are soft-tops available for the convertible models, but I believe they do not come standard and must be specified as an option.

Second-hand values would be hard to come by, as I've never heard of them being sold second-hand. However, I'd imagine them to still be pricey; the C8 Spyder retails for USD $275,000 and the upcoming C12 goes for $345,000, without options of any kind.

If you want pricing info for the options or any other details, just shout! I have a brochure/order form in front of me. (Prices are only in USD however, sorry!)

Cool, I'm looking for someing 1 or 2 years away but with this sort of thing its always good to rule it in or out early on. I'm just waiting for broughtons to call me back so I can see what they say. I've seen they're about 150GBP for the C8 spyder but can't find used prices anywhere...

Spoke to Broughtons, they're gonna send some stuff through in the post, the chap didn't know of any used cars as yet so guess its a wait and see game.

So folks if that and G spyder don't come off - what else is quirky and a little different for my next car?

The Gillet Vertigo always tickled my fancy...

Made in Belgium, has a 3L Alfa unit I believe, 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. Not exactly sure where you would find one, but quirky like no other nonetheless!

There was a site on PH not too long ago actually that had one of these for sale along with a few XJ220s. Maybe that will ring a bell or two scratchchin
