Hi All!

i just wanted to introduce myself and more to the point my new GranSport.

I have been browsing this site for a long time, and it is absolutely fantastic.

Anyway, I have just purchased a new GranSport and am absolutely in love with it. The car was purchased from Maranellos and so far the service received was excellent

The car is just fantastic. Had a 350Z Nissan previous and so you can imagine the difference (not that the previosu car was bad). So, so far I am delighted with it BUT I also know that these cars are prone to a few problems and I am looking at some feedback from current owners as to what typically goes wrong

I will try and post a few pics (if I figure out how to) soon.

Regards to all

Frank

Thanks for your reply Craigw. Yes the car is absolutely phenomenal in pretty much every aspect. I am still at this stage where I wake up at night and think of going for a drive (girlfriend does not let me of course!!)

Congratulations, looking forward to seeing the pics as i really like these
They must be good, because i've never heard any criticisms & they have defied usual maserati residuals

below are the specs of the car:

Limited Edition Package -
Leather Roof Lining
Red Brake Calipers
CD Changer
Full Leather Interior
19" Trofeo Alloy Wheels in Grigio Mercury
Heated Front Seats and drivers seat with memory function
Electrochromatic Rear View mirror
External grilles in black
Seatta Badges
Xenon Headlights
Headlamp Wash System
Auditorium 200 High Power Hi fi system
Rear Parking Sensors
Avorio Piping
GPS Radio Navigator
Nero Carbonio with Avoria Leather trim
Park distance control
Skyhook Suspension

In my opinion, this the by far the best colour combination there is for the car (but then again I would say that, wouln't I).

I have heard somewhere that it better to use the car in sports mode all of the time as this will induce less clutch wear (clutch does not slip as much in sport mode), could somebody (un)confirm this?

Frank,

Sounds a great package - do post some pics soon, and hopefully there'll be a gathering soon so we can see it in the flesh ...

There has been a fair few threads about the clutchwear on CCs. A fair few Coupe owners on here have expressed the view that if you have the car in Sport, the gear change is faster, so reduces the likelihood of slippage. I keep mine in Sport mostly because I prefer that 'mode' not for clutch saving mode.. however if you see my earlier thread on my recent clutch wear - perhaps it is the way to go!!..

Anyway, enjoy

Thanks Jonhnyboy!

I will post a few pics (but weahter is awful at the mo). your previosu threads are indeed pretty convincing. Only worry I have about keep the car in Sport mode all the time is the weather. Do you notice a huge difference in the level of grip you have in Sport when it rains?

Your car looks lovely too btw

Thanks again

Frank,

Fair point about the weather - if it is heavy rain, or lots of standing water - I take it out of Sport.. you'll find as you drive it more that you get used to the different settings and how much you can play.. and how much respect to give the power under your right foot... I've never taken the ASR off - am saving that for when I finally convince myself to go on a track!!...

btw, there should be a PH gathering in November in East London, also, myself and Mazzer 3.2 (3200) often go for a hoon around North ish Essex - you would be welcome to join sometime.....

Cheers,
John

Hi John,

As you rightly say I have only done 400 miles in the car and am still "learning" it. I have been strongly advised not to take the ASR off EVER by Maranellos. I guess you have to for track purposes, but tbh I would be so scared to go on a track with it. If anything was to happen to it...

The meets are a great idea. Please give me more details as and when you have the time.
Forgive my ignorance, but i have actually been to one of those before..What could I expect? what do you usually do?

Will try to make sure you know of any forthcoming meets - the general ones are a chance to meet fellow Petrolheads, look at each others cars, discuss cars, that sort of thing... then sometimes, some of us go for a 'spirited' drive given half the chance..

i must admit after all the scaremongering on here i didn't touch ASR until on track - but it was dry on track so had no grip problems.

i now drive everywhere in sport with asr off. i hope this doesn't come back to haunt me!

it is very controllable to slide and it does slide at the slightest throttle application. the trick is to be smooth as once the turbos kick in you know all about it. the steering is very slow so its hard to catch once it really kicks out - but if you are smooth on the throttle and quick on the steering it can slide everywhere! i also use first when out of a junction or r/about incase it would go into 2nd once moving then kick down into 1st which could be scary!

enjoy :-)

hi Steve,

I promise, one day I will have the balls to take it off....not just yet though!

I am still getting used to the power delivery and sheer amount of it. Puts a smile on my face evrytime
