Main dealer 31,250 mile service - How much?
Discussion
Main dealer 31000 mile service at JCT600 Brooklands Maserati (Leeds) cost me just over £2000 last week. Expensive getting those stamps up north! It did include a belt change.
Other recommendations that occured were Aircon Regas, Brake Disc Skim and Rear dif oil change. Car is a 2000 (W Reg)

Had the cam belts changed last year after a endfloat rebuild. What should I expect to pay for the 31,250 service at a main dealer and if the cambelt is part of this service, can this be priced out?

Pete,
Cambelts need changing every 3 years or IIRC 32K miles whichever comes first. So yes, instruct not to change and no you don't have to pay for it - Simply tell them you will NOT pay for unneccessary work. That said, check your paperwork to verify they also renewed the idler (jockey wheel) bearing last year which is just as important as the belt itself.
Minor service should cost circa £600 but depends on actual work done - with main dealers its anyone's guess. Independents Grimaldi Engineering in Halstead, Essex and Emblem Sports Cars in Poole, Dorset are both, in my opinion, vastly preferable to the Main Dealers of this world.
Sorry to hear of your endfloat probs - yet another 2001. Although the root cause may lie elsewhere, did you check old invoices to ensure only Selenia Racing 10/60 was used at all previous services? Just a thought!
Hope this helps
So, rang around.
Two quotes at the around £2000 mark from Maranello (without belt) and Meridian (with belt)......
By far the best was Lancaster, £1225 inc VAT (this with the belt time and part cost taken off).
One futher question..rear boxes, rotted through. Gonna go after market. I wanna stay as close to the OE design as possible and don't need an agressive sound, what do people suggest. From what I have seen, Tubi look the biz....but the cost!!!??
Cheers

Lancaster aparently give 25% discount on 3200 over 5 years old.

Just been through exactly the same exercise and Lancasters did give the best price, including collection and loan car too.
My boxes have also gone. I have a mate in the business and he has recommended a company that makes vintage and racing sports exhausts, similar to Tubi apparently but £580 plus VAT and fitting. So I'm going with that as main dealer quoted £1200 for Larini. PM me if you want more info. If you wait a couple of weeks I can tell you if they are any good.
Cheers
Steve
Edited to say that when shopping around for servicing prices I have found the specialists to be no cheaper than the main dealers which is odd, maybe they offer a better service, but having the main dealer stamp in the book is worthwhile IMO

Count me in for details of those exhaust silencers. Was just about to post a new thread.
Just had main dealer service (Graypaul Nottingham) at 40,000 miles for similar price.
Will be getting cambelt doen at specialist in 2007 at my next "3 year" point. Will be using Autoshioled in Manchester, recommended on various forums, and did a great PPI for me at only £150.
